Objectives:
1- Understand the concept of cheering someone up and its significance in interpersonal communication.
2- Develop listening comprehension skills by accurately grasping the content of a conversation between two friends.
3- Identify and analyze elements of humor, specifically focusing on wordplay, within jokes.
4- Enhance speaking and retelling abilities by summarizing and recounting the content of jokes heard in the audio

Revision: The...the Comparatives


1. Lead-In (3-5 minutes):
I am going to start the lesson by asking the following question.
Have you ever made someone to cheer up?
2-Semi-controlled practice (3-5 minutes)
With books closed, I am going to ask the students: How do you really
feel about jokes and people who tell a lot of jokes?
Do you like them or not?)
How does Hisham feel?
3-Activity (3-5-minutes)
I am going to play the audio again. Have students listen and read
along in their books.
4-controlled practice (5-7 minutes)
The students are going to be asked to read again and answer the following questions.
Why is Charlie telling Hashim jokes?
What is Hashim’s reaction to the jokes?
5-Controlled practice(5-10 minutes)
The students are going to be asked to find out the meaning of each expression in the real talk.
Homework: To write three jokes and explain each one.
Review/Wrap-Up/Closure: To highlight the expressions in the real talk section.

Expectations: The students are expected to understand the meaning of the new expressions.
