CHALLENGES AND OPPORTUNITIES FOR PHARMACY EDUCATION

SUPPORTING INDIAN HEALTHCARE SYSTEM
09-10 February, 2024

ABOUT CONVENTION
Pharmacists play a crucial role in the healthcare system, and their skills can significantly impact its future.
Imparting and acquiring knowledge is a consistent effort to build in the quality within the young pharmacists,
to empowering them. The skill up-gradation may enable the pharmacists to manufacture consistent quality
products at affordable rates and to achieve international standards. Pharmaceutical Sciences and Pharmacists
have to play a significant role in the health care system of the country for a burgeoning population, for overall
self reliance in healthcare and for economic development.
Skilled pharmacists can contribute to shaping the future of healthcare by spreading awareness in general
public about Preventive Care and Health Promotion Schemes, Pharmacogenomics, Public Health Initiatives,
Personalized Medication Plans, Chronic Disease Management, and promoting sustainable healthcare
practices. By embracing these roles and actively participating in the evolving landscape of healthcare, skilled
pharmacists can contribute significantly to shaping a future healthcare system that is more patient-centered,
efficient, and outcomes-driven. This goal can be achieved by imparting quality Pharmacy education. But the
quality of pharmacy education is increasingly becoming a major concern as a result of several complex factors
like lack of competent faculty, researchers and staff, lack of infrastructure, focus on knowledge oriented
curriculum rather than competency based training, deficiency in regulatory framework and its enforcement
for quality education, equality and fairness. The Pharmacy education is an under rated area; but has immense
potential.
This 5th National Convention of APTI Punjab State Branch will provide a common platform for all
stakeholders of Pharmacy Profession, i.e., Academicians, Regulators, Clinical Pharmacists and Professionals
from Industry to express their views and submit their inputs to encourage young professionals to understand
their valuable role in shaping healthcare system of India.
