Question No. 13 to 16 consist of two statements – Assertion (A) and Reason (R).
Answer these questions selecting the appropriate option given below:
a) Both A and R are true and R is the correct explanation of A.
b) Both A and R are true and R is not the correct explanation of A.

d) A is false but R is true.
13 The given below figures show the different modification found in 1
Bougainvillea and Cucurbita. Observe the figures carefully and comment
upon the appropriateness of the Assertion and Reason

Assertion: The given structures X and Y show convergent evolution.

Reason: Structures X and Y are modified stems that perform different

functions.

14 Assertion: Apomixis and parthenocarpy are both asexual modes of 1

reproduction.

Reason: Seeds are not produced in both apomixis and parthenocarpy.

15 Assertion: In the presence of a predator, the prey population growth will 1
always be exponential.

Reason: Exponential growth is when the resources and the

environment allow an organism to realize fully its innate potential to
grow in numbers.
16 Assertion: When white eyed, yellow bodied Drosophila females were 1
hybridized with red eyed, brown-bodied males; and F1 progeny was
intercrossed, F2 ratio deviated from 9 : 3 : 3 : 1.

Reason: When two genes in a dihybrid are on the same chromosome,

the proportion of parental gene combinations is much higher than the
non-parental type.

33 Haemophilia is a rare type of bleeding disorder that occurs when there 5
is a deficiency or absence of a particular protein (clotting factor)
needed for blood to clot. As a result, a person with haemophilia will
experience longer bleeding after an injury because the clot formed is
not strong enough to stop the bleeding. A person with haemophilia will
not bleed any faster than a person without haemophilia, but he or she
