Detailed Lesson Plan in Science 7

Grade & Section: Grade 7 Atis Date: February 22, 2024

Time: 11-11:45 am

I. Objectives
At the end of the lesson, the student will be able to:
a. Identify the three ways on how heat is being transferred.
b. Illustrate how heat is being transferred.
II. Subject Matter
Topic: Heat transfer
Reference: SCIENCE 7 Learner’s Material page 243-256,
how heat is transferred/www.edinformatics.com; www.uwsp.edu.com ,

Instructional Materials: Laptop, TV, PowerPoint, marker, folder, pictures, double-sided tape,
manila paper, Twigs, Wire, Lighters, spoon, candle
Value focus: Unity and Teamwork

III. Procedure

Teacher’s Activity Student’s Activity

Preliminary Activities

Prayer

Greetings
“Good morning everyone before you take your
seats please pick up pieces of paper under your “Good morning, ma’am.”
desks” “Thank you so much ma’am.”
“How are you class?” “very good ma’am”

Checking of Attendance

“Is there anyone absent?”

“Secretary please check the attendance.” “Yes ma’am”

A. Review

“Yesterday, we talked about “heat”. Am I

right?” “Yes, ma’am”

“Okay! We discussed that Heat is the transfer

of energy from one object to another object.”

"Could you now provide instances where heat

is generated, please?"

“Excellent!” (Answers may vary)

B. Motivation

“what’s happening?!”

Instruction:
1. Look at the picture.
2. Point out what you see.
3. Describe what you saw and what you think.
“So, class I have here pictures, what you are
going to do is to interpret what the pictures tell
us”

Now class I will be grouping you

into three groups. Each group will -boiling water
have -Ironing clothes
an index card where the instruction is - A hand holding the handle
written and an envelope where the of a heated frying pan
the materials are. Is that clear class? -Hand near a flame
- yes ma’am -An Ice Cream melting
so count 1-3 and then go to your group
- Melting candle
and cooperate, am I understood?

“All of your answers are correct, these pictures

that you have seen are examples of our lesson
for today but before that let's have an activity
first.”

LESSON PROPER

A. Activity
“group yourselves into 3 groups by counting
off 1 up to 3”

“Each group will have an index card where the

instruction is written and an envelope with the
materials. Is that clear class? “

direction: perform the activity based on the

instructions given, and write your observations
on the manila paper.

Group 1:
“Heat Transfer from the lighter”

Material: Lighter
Procedure:
Step1: Turn on the lighter
Step 2: Place your hand near the flame at
least 10cm away
Step 3: Observe what you feel.

Group 2:
“Melted candle”

Materials: spoon, candle, lighter (answer may vary)

Procedure: -the butter melted

Step 1: Put the butter into the spoon -the stick burned
Step 2: heat the spoon with the flame of the -feels warm to the hands
candle. -the wire is hot
Step 3: Observe what happens to the butter

Group 3
“Heated faster”

Material: Twigs, Wire, Lighter

Procedure:
Step1: Heat the twig and the wire with the
flame of a lighter.
Step2: Observe which of the two heats
faster

On a piece of bondpaper the group

will write their observations and
explanations based on the given
activity
B. Reporting of the Activity

“Now that you’re done, you may now paste

your work on the board and present it in
front of your classmates.”

C. Analysis

What do these three activities have in common?

How did you know that heat is present?

D. Abstraction

“what you had experienced is called heat

transfer”

HEAT TRANSFER-A form of energy transfer

through conduction, convection, and/or
radiation
CONDUCTION- when heat moves from one
object to another object through direct touch

“Heat can flow through a solid. This movement is

called conduction. Heat is conducted from the hot
end of the solid to its cooler end.”

Conductor-A conductor allows current to flow

easily through it.
-boiling water
“Metals such as copper, gold, and aluminum
are conductor”

Insulator-Insulators don't allow current to flow

through it.

“Fabric, wood, and foam are insulators.”

CONVECTION- the transfer of heat from one

place to another due to the movement of fluid.

- “Convection happens in liquid while

conduction happens in solid”

- “Thermal radiation happens in space and

doesn’t need anything to transfer”

“Where do you usually observe convection?”

- “Insulation lessens heat transfer”
RADIATION- A mode of heat transfer that
does not need particles or medium to take
place.
- living would be hard
-we can’t cook
-we can’t dry our clothes

(answers may vary)

“how is conduction different from convection
in terms of heat transfer?”

“what about radiation? How is it different from

convection and conduction?”

“How does insulation work to reduce heat

transfer?”

E. Application

“imagine what would happen if there is no heat

or heat transfer in our daily life?”

F. Valuing
“based on our lesson for today, what have you
realized?

IV. EVALUATION/ASSESSMENT
A.
Identification.
Direction: Read the statement carefully and write what is asked. In a 1\4 sheet of paper

1. is when heat moves from one object to another object through direct touch

2. It is the movement of heat by a fluid.

3. It is A mode of heat transfer that does not need particles or medium to take place

4. doesn't allow current to flow through it.

5. allows current to flow easily through it.

B.
Direction:
In a short paragraph illustrate how heat transfer based on the photo given. (15pts)

V. Assignment

Make a creative video presentation that tackles the importance of heat transfer in
our daily lives.
