2 DESIGN LOADS
1. Dead Load (DL)

The self-weight of the structure has been automatically included in STAAD considering the
unit weight of concrete.
2. Load due to Crash barrier (CB)

The Parapet wall of 1m high and 0.15m thick load taken as UDL. Calculated load is = 1 x
0.15x25 = 3.75 kN/m

3. Load due to wearing Coat (WC)

Considering thickness of wearing coat as 100mm, load due to wearing coat taken as (0.1 x
23.6) = 2.36 kN/m2

7061396 | Design Report on Approach Bridge |Rev. 0 | August 2021 Page | 4

4. Live load over pedestrian (LL)

As per Cl. 206.1 of IRC 6-2014, live load equivalent to 5 kN/m2 is considered over the
pedestrian.

5. Vehicle Live Load (VL)

As per table -2 of IRC 6-2014, 2 lane Class A vehicle and 70R wheeled vehicle load has been
considered in the analysis as shown in below figure:

7061396 | Design Report on Approach Bridge |Rev. 0 | August 2021 Page | 5

Class A vehicle load details as per IRC -6 (2014)

Here, 0.4m gap from the pedestrian to 1st Class A vehicle has been considered. Similarly, the gap
between the two Class-A vehicle taken as 0.8m.

70R (wheeled) vehicle load details as per IRC -6 (2014)

Here, 1.07m gap from the pedestrian to 70R wheeled vehicle has been considered.

3 DESIGN LOAD COMBINATIONS
