Teacher-guided
activities/practices that Teachers’ illustrations of practice
address learners’ gender,
needs, strengths, interests and
experiences.
1. Using gender-fair language The teacher calls the students by their
in the classroom. names and address the whole class by
using the word ‘class’ in giving instructions
and discussions to the students.
2. Providing equal The teacher calls everyone in class without
opportunities for learners considering their genders. Everyone was
regardless of gender. given equal opportunity in recitation,
answering a question, and even in reading
the learning materials.

The teacher also didn’t implement seating

arrangement which allowed the students
to seat wherever they feel comfortable,
except for those who have difficulty in
their vision, the teacher allocated a seat
for them in front of the class.

In group activities, the teacher grouped

the students regardless of their gender.
Each group was a combination of boys
and girls. The teacher also sees to it that
each member of the group will have a role
to play and will help in completing the
task.
3. Taking measures to prevent There were instances that among the
bullying. students the teacher was handling there
were bullying and violence cases. The first
thing that the teacher does was to talk to

53
the students, hear both sides, and if both
parties are still not okay, that’s when the
teacher will call the parents. The teacher
talked to both the students with their
parents and tried to settle things between
the students, their parents as their witness.

However, if the issue happened again

after the prior settlement, that’s the only
time the teacher resorted to bring the
students to the guidance office together
with their parents. Upon settlement in the
guidance office, the teacher separated
the students inside the classroom and from
time to time ask their classmates if the
students involved in the issue are still in a
fight.
4. Responding to learners’ When the students feel confusion and
emotional needs. discomfort in learning the topic, the
teacher will tend to the said student and
ask what topic the student was finding
confusing.

The teacher also considers the students’

emotional needs by making sure that the
activities and assessments that she will be
giving will be challenging yet doable.
Through this, she is accounting the possible
outcomes and the students’ feelings and
behaviors towards the possible outcomes.
5. Encouraging the learners’ By providing differentiated instructions,
appropriate interests. materials, and way of assessing the
students, the teacher was able to
acknowledge the varying interests of the
students.
6. Providing opportunities and Every student regardless of their gender or
activities that enhance where they were sat were given equal
learners’ strengths. opportunity in recitations and
participations in the class. The
differentiated teaching approach and
assessments depending on the class that
the teacher was handling helped in
accounting each of the students’

54
strengths while having a goal of not only
each student acquiring individual
meaningful learning experiences but as a
whole class.
7. Relating lessons and Science being a subject which uses English
activities to the learners’ as a mode of relaying information, makes
personal experiences. it hard for some students to understand the
topics. To address this issue, the teacher
uses Filipino for students to better
understand the science concepts. She
also uses real-life scenarios to better
solidify the concept into the students.
Upon providing a real-life example, she
also asks the students to give similar real-
life scenarios to check whether the
students truly understood the science
concept.
