Reduce cement volume to drillout

Eliminate the need for large diameter cement heads •

Eliminate the need for large diameter cement plugs •
Inner string cementing increases the risk of casing collapse. To reduce this •
.risk, a surface casing pack-off assembly (annular seal) is sometimes used
Float equipment utilized for inner string cementing is fitted with a receptacle
where the drillpipe stinger will be introduced. The receptacle contains a sealing area where
seals in the stinger will create a seal to prevent cement from
,being pumped into the inside of the casing

Burst and collapse

Like other tubulars run in the casing string, the burst-and-collapse resistance
of the float equipment should be known. Due to manufacturing and design
differences between float equipment and casing, burst-and-collapse equations defined in API
.Technical Report 5C3 may or may not be applicable
.Consulting with the manufacturer is a good practice
While the float equipment may not see significant amounts of axial tension load, conventional
casing design theory (Byrom, 2015; Rahman and
Chilingarian, 1995) is based on worst possible conditions. These conditions
may involve total or partial evacuation in which significant burst-andcollapse pressure may be
,present at the bottom of the string. In some cases
such as surface and production strings, the highest collapse pressure may happen at the casing
shoe. Float equipment burst and collapse requirements
,should be defined by the engineer that defined the casing design program
or with full understanding of expected casing loads under worst possible
conditions. In a similar way, the suitability of float equipment material grade
for sour corrosive environments should be based on the same criteria used
.for casing (i.e., H2S partial pressure, pH, temperature)
Back pressure and bump pressure 3.5.4.6
Excessive levels of back pressure or bump pressure may both lead to float
equipment failure. However, there are important differences between the
two potential failure modes. API durability tests and static high-temperature
back pressure tests are described later in this chapter. Bump pressure is not
