Profile:

Inductive sensor for turbine speed, changing

Op nbr 42162

Measuring tool ZF 1PO1 137833 or E1665 Measuring tool

Sliding depth caliper

Sliding caliper

Allen keys 10 mm (0.39 in) and 22 mm (0.87 in)

Torque wrench 0–100 Nm (0–10 kpm) (0–73.8 lbf ft)

Socket 24 mm (0.9 in), spark plug type

WARNING
Hot oil can cause severe burns!

1. Turn off the main electric power with the battery disconnect switch.

2. Remove underbody skid plate 3 and 4 under the transmission, see [Invalid linktarget], also remove the cross
member.

3. Drain the transmission oil.

4. Loosen the rear hydraulic pump and pull it out from its drive.

5. Disconnect the hose for the dipstick from the connection on the transmission oil sump. Remove the oil sump and
remove the suction filter.
NOTE!
The oil sump weighs approx. 7 kg (15.4 lbs).

6. Remove the plug over the inductive sensor (22 mm (0.87 in) Allen key). Disconnect the cable terminals from the
inductive sensor.
Remove the inductive sensor with a socket wrench (24 mm) (0.94 in) with an extension.
Make sure that the adjusting washer comes out with the sensor.

7. Insert the measuring tool in the sensor’s position until it stops against the impulse sensor ring.
NOTE!
Make sure that the highest point on the sensor ring is directly lined up with the sensor position and that the
measuring tool is inserted at right angles. Carefully rotate the sensor ring with a screwdriver or similar.

4. Lock ring

8. Remove the tool without moving the lock ring.

9. Measure and note measurement "a" from the end of the measuring tool to the ring.

Figure 5
Measurement "a"

10. Measure and note measurement "b" from the end of the inductive sensor to its shoulder.
Subtract the measuring tool’s measurement from the inductive sensor measurement.
The difference should be 0.6–0.8 mm (0.024–0.032 in), which is the same as the correct thickness of the adjusting
washer/washers.
Adjusting washers are available in thickness from 0.6–3.0 mm (0.024–0.115), with a difference in thickness of
0.2 mm (0.008 in).

11. Fit the inductive sensor with the correct thickness of the adjusting washer/washers.
Max. tightening torque is 50 Nm (5 kpm) (36.9 lbf ft=.
Connect the cable terminals to the inductive sensor.
Fit the plug for the inductive sensor.
Tightening torque: 80–100 Nm (8–10 kpm) (159.0–73.8 lbf ft).

12. Fit the oil sump with a new gasket. The two smaller front bolts should be provided with a copper washer.
Tightening torque: 25 Nm (2.5 kpm) (18.4 lbf ft)

13. Connect the hose for the dipstick to the oil sump and fit the suction filter.

14. Check that the O-ring in the suction filter is not damaged. Lubricate the O-ring and fit the filter. Fit the cover.

15. Fit the rear hydraulic pump.

16. Fill oil in the transmission and check the oil level. Make sure that there are no leaks.

17. Fit the cross member, clamp the hoses and fit the underbody skid plates.

18. Run the engine until the transmission oil has reached normal operating temperature, then check the level.
