What shall be the role of the nurse in a case in which parents of a severely deformed newborn
child refuse to feed and allow their child to starve to death?

When parents refuse to feed and care for their severely deformed child, the nurse must
advocate for the child's best interests. While showing empathy and respect for the parents, the
nurse must effectively communicate the situation, ensuring that they understand the
importance of caring for the child and the consequences of neglect. If the parents remain
unresponsive, involving authorities such as the DSWD may be required to ensure the child's
safety.
