Federal government invests close to $2.

4M in food manufacturing sector

The Canadian economy depends heavily on the food and beverage manufacturing industry in
Ontario. With over 104,000 employees and yearly revenues of over $48 billion, the industry
ranks third in North America. These three businesses will be able to expand their manufacturing
capacity, buy new machinery, and add 56 jobs in southern Ontario because to this investment.

To guarantee that premium food reaches grocery store shelves and families across the nation, it is
essential to invest in southern Ontario's food manufacturers and the companies that serve them.
The nearly $2.4 million invested amount will help three companies that highlight the skills of our
regional food producers, while also generating good employment and bolstering the economy of
Southern Ontario

The following projects are supported by this investment:

French pastries and confections are manufactured by Coco Bakery Inc. In order to meet the
increased demand for its products from both new and existing clients in Canada and the United
States, Coco Bakery will be able to more than double its current French macaron production
capacity with the help of this $683,000 investment. This will be achieved through the adoption of
cutting-edge equipment. In Mississauga, the investment will generate 20 skilled employments.

Innovative rural food processor Metzger Meat Products Inc. (Metzger) specializes in smoked and
European-style cured meats. With the help of the $1.2 million investment, the business will be
able to enhance its dry-curing, filling, and manufacturing processes and boost production
capacity by using new, high-speed automated equipment. This will put the business in a position
to take advantage of new prospects in the ready-to-cook meats market, realize efficiency, and
create 21 skilled rural employment in Hensall.

Ready-to-eat and ready-to-cook halal food is produced by Al-Shamas Food Products Ltd. (Al-
Shamas). With the adoption of new equipment that will assist its growth and upgrade its
manufacturing processes, the $500,000 investment will enable Al-Shamas' expansion to a new
facility. This will allow the business to grow into new markets, establish two new product lines
for burgers and chicken nuggets, boost its manufacturing capacity, and create 15 skilled positions
in Mississauga.
