ASSIGMENT

1. Discuss the impacts of oil and gas exploration on the environment?

 Air pollution hazard
It cause acid rain which damages the crops, the toxins releases into atmosphere
are dangerous to human and ecosystem health, burning of gasoline releases
carbon dioxide in the air increases global warming.

 Water pollution hazards

Discharge of the other waste during drilling oiling and contamination of nearby
offshore island coastal reefs and intertidal ecosystems oiling of seabirds such in
Alaska ingestion by seabirds, during feeding or preening leading to poisoning.
 Noise pollution hazard
High intensity sound discharges can cause pathological effect as lethal and sub-
lethal injuries behavioral changes to populations of marine organism disruption to
feedings, mating, breeding or nursery activities of marine organism population
disruptions to the abundance and behavior of prey species for marine mammals
such as seabird, land bird.
 Soil population hazard
Failure of crops growing due to acidic population in the soil poisoning of micro
bacteria helping in the grow of crops contaminating the soil by oil waste dump
into the soil oil spills release on the environment cause soil infertility and burn
vegetation.
2. Discuss five problems that face the oil and gas industry.
 Aging world force
Many oil and gas companies have large segments of their force who are able to
retire in the few years as these experienced workers leave; companies will have to
bring in new employers and contractors who are less experienced and unfamiliar
with the facility.
 Equipment reliability
Oil and gas companies frequently use methods to increase equipment reliability
and decrease down time, especially unplanned down time.
 Inspections
Within the oil and gas industry, equipment and facility inspections are headed on
a daily weekly, monthly and annual basis, these inspections of ten require
temporary structures, operational readings, ladders and more.
 Large-scale events
Turn around, shutdown, equipment isolation and lockout / tag out events are
large-scale activities that require months of planning are can loss for a week or
months.
 Spill control
Spills and leaks may be the most publicly devastating events that an oil are gas
company could take, that is why its vitally important that you have the supplies
needed to quickly and effectively respond it such it such an event were to occur.
 Reducing costs to remain competitive
Producing crude oil and retied products at a lower cost to stay competitive on the
markets is one of the industry major challenges optimizing production system and
environmental improving the environmental tools print to meet increasingly
stringent standard.
 Handling government pressure
Governments all over the planet are introducing ambitions carbon reduction
targets and this is putting businesses under growing pressure to slash their
emissions.
