LESSON PLAN

CLASS- 7th SUBJECT- Science

NAME OF THE CHAPTER- NUTRITION IN PLANTS
TIME-
 OBJECTIVES- What nutrients are necessary for plant growth and reproduction, What
nutrients are present in the soil, How nutrients help plants stay healthy and How nutrients
help plants maintain vital processes

GIST OF THE LESSON- Plant nutrition is the study of the chemical elements
and compounds necessary for plant growth, metabolism, and
reproduction. Plants absorb nutrients from their surroundings, such as water,
carbon dioxide, minerals, and sunshine. Plants require 17 essential nutrients,
including carbon, oxygen, and hydrogen, which are absorbed from the air, and
other nutrients, such as nitrogen, from the soil.

MATERIAL REQUIRED- TLM, BOOK, CHALK AND BOARD, SOME

OHTERS TOOLS FOR ACTIVITY.

METHODOLOGY- Introduce the concept of nutrition: Explain the importance of

nutrition in plants.
Discuss the modes of nutrition: Autotrophs make their own food, such as green plants
using chlorophyll and sunlight in photosynthesis. Heterotrophs must eat to get food, and
can be insectivorous, parasitic, or saphrophytic.
Discuss the movement of food: Water and minerals move up through channels called
xylem, which are found in the roots, stem, and leaves of plants. Food is carried through
channels called phloem, from the leaves to other parts of the body.
PLANNED ACTIVITY/PROJECT- ACCORDING TO NCERT BOOK THAT IS GIVEN.

ASKING QUESTION- .
 What is importance of food?
 Do all organism or living things need Food?
 What do you know about photosynthesis?

ICE BREAKER ACTIVITY- ACTIVITY AND MY TLM, DAILY BASIS OR

FUNDAMENTAL ACTIVITY.

REFERENCE- ALL ACTIVITY MENTIONED ABOVE.

ICT- SMART CLASS

 STUDENT’S ACTIVITY- Experiment to show that sunlight is

essential for photosynthesis
 Keep the plant in a dark room
 Cover a specific part of a leaf
 Expose the plant to sunlight
 Decolorize the leaf
 Add iodine solution
2. Photosynthesis activities
 Put small plants in test tubes filled with water and plug the
opening of the test tubes
 Bubbles will appear on the sides of the test tubes
 This is a photosynthesis chemical response that shows plants
changing carbon dioxide and water into food
3. Prepare sprouts
 Prepare some sprouts of moong
 Wash them in water everyday and drain all the water
 Let them grow for a week until the whole of the seeds grow
into young plants
 Measure the lengths of the sprouts everyday using a string

ART INTEGRATED ACTIVITY- Make a diagram of leaves and other parts

of Tree.
.

ASSESSMENT- It include three section-

Iodine test
Put a plant in sunlight for 2–5 days, then observe the difference between the covered and
uncovered parts of the leaf. Perform an iodine test on the leaf, and then describe your
observations. Repeat the process with a second leaf, removing the strip and exposing the covered
part to sunlight for 2–3 days.
Soil testing
Test for the presence of macronutrients, such as nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium, which
plants need in large quantities. Test for the presence of micronutrients, such as iron, zinc, and
copper, which plants need in smaller quantities.

Starch test
Starch is a carbohydrate produced during photosynthesis and stored in the leaves, stems, and
roots of plants

LEARNING OUTCOME- UNDERSTANDING OF EACH TOPICS WITH

GENERAL COMPETANCY BASED ACTIVITY AND PRACTICAL KNOWLEDGE.

SELF EVALUATION- To check understanding of these terms-
