Detailed Lesson Plan in Physical Education

I. Objectives

At the end of the lesson, the student can,


a) state the historical background of Manang Biday Dance,
b) demonstrate and perform the dance Manang Biday gracefully with partner,
c) appreciate the dance Manang Biday with partner.

MANANG BIDAI is a dance after a popular love


song in the Ilocos region. Biday is the name of a
girl with whom a young man is very much in love.
Manang is used for addressing an older sister. It is a
favorite song of the young boys and girls who sing
the words of the song alternately as they dance.
(The pupils listen attentively.)
CUSTOM: Dancers are dressed in typical Ilocano
peasant costume.

MUSIC: Is composed of one part of eight


measures. Play the music twice in every figure of
the dance.

COUNTS: one, two, three to a measure.

FORMATION: Partners stand about six feet apart,


facing each other. When facing audience, Girl is at
right side of partner. One to any number of pairs
may take part.
