How old should a child be against social media?

According to The Australian Parenting Website, the suitable age for a child to use social
media is ranging from an age of 10-16 years old. These social media platforms include
Facebook, Messenger, Tiktok, Instagram, and many more. It's true, in this developing world,
technologies have improved so much better than a decade ago yet it comes with undeniable
benefits and risks.

Yesterday, we were just writing letters to our loved ones, but today, it's just a click away.
We can't also deny the fact that we have benefited from the technologies today. It made our lives
so easy. This can be true for generations Y and Z, but not limited to. How about the young ones?
Will it greatly affect the mental health of our young ones?

Social media has done so much for us, especially in connecting us with our loved ones. It
also helps us develop our creativeness, resourcefulness — it also helps us discover ourselves e.g.
hidden talents, gender. It also helps not just our youth but us, the freedom of expression. Social
media also helped students through the pandemic. That was one of the times when social media
connected us when the world "stopped". Children must continue to learn. I could still remember
the times I had to crawl over books just to answer homeworks. To me, that is one of the most
significant benefits of social media.

Voltaire said it first: With great power comes great responsibility. I could relay this
famous line as far as social media is concerned. In my opinion, these modern technologies
greatly affect our children. Cyberbullying, online sexual abuse of children, gaming and social
network addiction, among others, are to issues of great concern.

The way I see it, child nurture is a great factor in raising one in this pathologically
dissatisfied world of technology — understanding social media, social media age
recommendations, personal information privacy, or even setting up social media guidelines. The
world will always evolve, but how do you cope up with your child?
