DESIGN STEPS of ON SITE DETENTITION POND (OSD)

[A] Storge type : Below-Ground Storages

[B] Region of Detention Site : Region 3 Northen Based on Figure 5.A1
Catchment characteristics :-
[C] Project Area : 0.7162 ha
[D] Terrain : Mild
[E] % of Impervious Area : 75%
[F] Permissible Site Discharge(PSD) : 69.9 l/s/ha Based on Table 5.A1
[G] Site Storage Rquirement(SSR) : 454 m³/ha Based on Table 5.A1

PSD /ha = F x C x ( 1m³/1000 )

= 0.050062 m³/s

SSR/ha = GxC
= 325.1548 m³

[H] Inlet Value : 220 l/s/ha Based on Table 5.A2

[I] Max Permissible Site Discharge(PSD) : 69.9 l/s/ha Based on Table 5.A2
[J] Min Site Storage Requirement (SSR) : 454 m³/ha Based on Table 5.A2

[K] Inlet = H x C x ( 1m³/1000 )

= 0.157564 m³/s

[L] PSD/ha = I x C x ( 1m³/1000 )

= 0.050062 m³/s

[M] SSR/ha = JxC

= 325.1548 m³

PSD = 0.050062 m³/s and PSD= 0.050062 m³/s

Select the smaller PSD for subsequent of outlet pipe.
Hence,
[N] #PSD= 0.050062 m³/s

PSD = 325.1548 m³ and PSD= 325.1548 m³

Select the larger SSR for subsequent of outlet pipe.
Hence,
[O] #SSR= 325.1548 m³

Pipe Diameter :-
[P] Inlet : 410 mm Based on Table 5.A3
(Adopt with 450 mm)
[Q] Outlet : 159 mm Based on Table 5.A3
(Adopt with 140 mm)
Inlet [K] = 0.157564 m³/s

From the table, we select 410 mm as pipe diameter since the inlet is 0.16 the
range is 410 mm.

[R] Inlet Pipe = 410 mm Based on Table 5.A4

PSD[N] = 0.050062 m³/s

From the table, we select 290mm as pipe diameter.

[S] Outlet Pipe= 290 mm Based on Table 5.A4

Comparison of Value Inlet & Outlet Pipe Diameter;-

Inlet [P] = 450 mm
Inlet [R] = 410 mm Take smallest
[T] #Inlet = 410mm

Outlet[Q] = 140 mm
Outlet[S] = 290 mm Take smallest
[U] #Outlet= 140mm
