Objective:

Observing the following features of frequency response of common source amplifier.

 Low Frequency Response

 Mid-band Range of Amplifier
 High Frequency Response of Amplifier
 Bode Plot

Components and Instruments:

 Transistors: BS170 MOSFET
 Resistance: 4.7MΩ, 3.3MΩ, 1KΩ, 1KΩ, 2KΩ, 100KΩ
 Capacitors:0.01µF, 0.1µF, 10µF
 Function Generator
 DC Power Supply
 Digital Multi-meter
 Oscilloscope

Lab Task:

Figure 1

We will make the above circuit on the bread board. From function generator we will give 400 mVp-p
with 100 Hz frequency. After that we will observe the output at oscilloscope and measure the output
voltage. Now we will increase the frequency and note down the output. We will keep doing this unless we
get the highest voltage and after that it does not increase regardless we are increasing the frequency. We
will have three stages low band frequencies, mid band and high band frequencies.

Graph:

Following graph is the output of low frequency band.

Following three graphs are the outputs of high frequency range when we max our frequency to 1 MΩ
and we keep increasing its output voltage changes.

Critical Analysis:

In this lab we perform the experiment and observe the behavior of capacitors. We performed the small
signal analysis on the circuit. We check the output of our input signal on the oscilloscope and check our
signal. After this we will increase the frequency and we note down the output voltage. We will keep
increasing the frequency unless our output voltage becomes constant. Till this point we have a low
frequency band, after this point if we keep increasing the frequency there is no effect on the output
voltage this band of frequencies is known as mid band and when we max our frequency to 1MΩ our
output voltage starts to decrease that region is known as high frequency. And after this point when we
keep increasing the frequency our output voltage will start to decrease.
