Brief SOP for NUPPL Yard

Sub: - Brief Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for the receipt, placement and
dispatch of rakes of NUPPL Rail Siding.

Following SOP is to be followed for the receipt, placement and dispatch of rakes of
NUPPL Rail Siding-

1. Information of rake arriving to GTPS shall be given by the Railway siding OA to


Station Master of GTPS Yard at least 30 Min before arrival at serving station.
2. After receiving information, Station Master of GTPS will send a written memo
with one points man to Railway crew for movement of loaded rake inside plant.
The memo will contain necessary route permission, speed limit and caution
orders issued by Station Master of NUPPL yard and same shall be
communicated to OA at Railway siding.
3. Loaded rake will come from Ghatampur Railway siding with Railway crew (Loco
Pilot and Points man) and will enter into GTPS up to pre-defined stop board.
For movement of rake, EI signal shall be used. In case If signal is not working,
loaded rake shall be received after manual setting of necessary points.
4. After receiving the Rake at pre-defined stop in GTPS, Railway loco will be
detached and the same will be shunted and idled in any loop/dispatch line. The
rake is handed over to NUPPL for unloading. 20 Minutes time is permitted for
this handing over/ taking over operation i.e., Railway placement time will be 20
minutes after arrival of rake at pre-defined stop point in GTPS.
5. One of the NUPPL/RITES Locomotive with RITES Crew (Loco Pilot and Points
man) will be kept stable for movement/shunting of rake to unloading points.
NUPPL/RITES Diesel loco will be attached to rake and placed at unloading
point as per requirement of CHP. After placement of rake RITES/NUPPL loco
will be detached and kept stable at dispatch line for further movement after
unloading. Unloading of rake will be in scope of NUPPL.
6. After unloading, Empty Rake will be shifted to Inspection yard by NUPPL/RITES
Diesel loco for TNC inspection.
7. After TNC clarification, NUPPL/RITES loco will be detached and Railway loco
will be attached to Empty rake.
8. After attaching of Loco to empty rake Railway crew will prepare GDR.
9. After GDR, A written memo with the necessary route permission and caution
orders shall be issued by Station Master of NUPPL yard to Railway crew for
movement of empty rake from GTPS to Railway siding. The same shall be
informed to Railway OA at Railway siding.
General:

a) Staff shall be provided with suitable means of communication like Walkie-


Talkie, mobile phone, hand signal flags (Red & Green), Tri-colour torch and
Private Number sheets etc. by siding authority. A fixed telephone shall be
provided by the NUPPL authorities in the office of siding Co-coordinator and SM
for smooth and uninterrupted communication between both.

b) Safety equipment such as wooden wedges, iron chains with padlocks, fire
extinguishers etc. shall be kept available in sufficient quantity for securing loads.

c) All shunting movement in the NUPPL siding will be supervised by


NUPPL/RITES SM/YM and facilitated by NUPPL/RITES Pointsman.

d) All the shunting movements, placements, dispatch timings in NUPPL Yard shall
be recorded by SM/YM in a separate register maintained for this purpose.
