Distance learning is a relatively new concept, and for most people, it is a new experience.

Both
students and teachers are having a hard time in distance or modular learning. Because of the physical
distance among students and teachers created by the online learning environment, students and teachers
have found it challenging to connect with one another. Personally, some of the problems I encountered
with the modular distance learning approach were communication failures such as instructions or
confusion of students on the modules, limited teacher guidance, and lack of concentration. This claim can
be proved by the research study entitled, “Learning in the New Normal”. In the study, the researchers
found out that the students encountered in this new normal, the informants answered that they
encountered technology issues, lack of focus, stress and it is hard to cope up with the new lessons.
Moreover, on how the students feel overall about distance learning, the informants answered that
distance learning is hard, difficult, frustrating, and stressful. On the other side, truly that distance learning
is flexible. However, present modular education practices cause participating students to experience
reflection, distance, and a lack of engagement. As a result of the absence of human connection in their
life, many students and instructors who unavoidably spend most of their time online may begin to exhibit
indications of social isolation. To sum everything up, we can say that distance learning is indeed
challenging. Not every student and teacher find this new way of leaning effective. It is hard to achieve
quality education here in the Philippines, knowing that not everybody is entitled to have high quality
equipment and good environment to be used in distance learning.
