DAILY LESSON PLAN IN PRACTICAL RESEARCH 2 (HUMSS A&B, TVL EIM AND GAS)
Prepared by: Gladen Shelley A. Billones
Content Standard
The learner demonstrates understanding of:
1. The characteristics, strengths, weaknesses, and kinds of quantitative
research.
Performance Standard
The learner is able to decide on suitable quantitative research in different areas of
interest.
Learning Competency
Describes the characteristics, strengths, weaknesses, and kinds of quantitative
research (CS_RS12-Ia-c-1).
I. Learning Objectives
At the end of the lesson, the learner should be able to:
a. Identify the strengths and weaknesses of quantitative research;
b. Discuss the different kinds of quantitative research; and
c. Evaluate topics that can be studied quantitatively.
b. Materials
- Chalk
- Powerpoint presentation
- Laptop
c. Strategies
- Lecture - Discussion
- Think – Pair – Share
- Cooperative and Collaborative Learning
b. Motivation
Let the students answer the question How can numbers be used to
describe phenomena in nature?
c. Activity
Let the students form a group of 10 members and let them describe their
group using words and numbers and let them answer which among the
ways of giving descriptions do you think is more accurate and represents
each member of the group?
d. Abstraction
After the activity, the students reflect on their responses about the lesson. Quantitative
research deals with numerical values and how they can describe a phenomenon or
infer a relationship.
Nonexperimental
● Descriptive research
● Comparative research
● Correlational research
● Quasi-experimental research
Quasi-experimental research
Quasi-experimental research mirrors experimental research but it is not true
experimental research where a causal relationship can be determined with the use of
dependent and independent variables.
Quasi-experiments do not use random samples but assigned samples.
Descriptive Research
A nonexperimental research design focuses on the description of factors, variables, or
phenomena that occur in nature.
Comparative Research
Also called causal-comparative research, its primary objective is to compare two
variables in order to identify whether there exists a causative relationship between
them.
This kind of research usually involves two or more groups and one independent
variable.
Correlational Research
Its primary objective is to compare two variables then identify the relationship
between them.
e. Application
Using Internet resources, list down five examples of quantitative research papers
and explain why you consider them to be as such. Based your answers on the
characteristics of quantitative research.
f. Assessment
Complete the table below by identifying 10 objects and their corresponding descriptors.
Use the table format below and write your output on a paper.
