b. Motivation

Let the students reflect the question “How has dance shaped human
civilization and individual well-being throughout history? What multifaceted
benefits does dance offer to individuals and society today”?

c. Activity

Have the students perform dance charades

● Actor performs dance from paper strip
● Group observes, guesses dance style
● Groups write, show answers; actor confirms
● Role rotation; game continues until all have a chance to act
● Group with most correct wins
● Post-game dance review discussion follows

d. Abstraction

After the activity, the students reflect on their responses about the lesson. Modern
dance emerged as a rebellion against the constraints of classical ballet in the early
twentieth century. Dancers like Isadora Duncan and Martha Graham sought to explore
new ways of moving, emphasizing individual expression, freedom of movement, and
emotional authenticity.

Choreography is performed by both individuals and cultures around the globe. Dance
flourished at various times in the past and was largely the product of cross-cultural trade and
interaction (Alejandro and Santos-Gana 2002).
