Module 4 - Example Exercise - Joining Facebook

Groups

Instructions: Watch the corresponding video to see how you can find relevant Facebook
groups which your target audience might be part of.

Step 1: Use the search bar in the top left to search for keywords that describe your target
audience.

For example: meditation / single parents / students / pregnancy

Step 2: Select “Groups” to see groups only.
Step 3: Go through the list of groups and join groups that seem relevant (should have more
than 500 members)

Join as many groups as possible.

Step 4: After you’ve joined the group / been approved add these groups to your favorites -
this way they’ll always appear in your Facebook sidebar on the left.

Note 1: Facebook is a great indicator for target audiences. If there’s no Facebook group for
your audience it might be a sign that your target audience doesn’t exist (the way you
defined it) - at least not on Facebook!

In this case try searching for different keywords. If you still can’t find groups it might be a
sign that you actually picked the wrong kind of target audience.

Note 2: You can conduct the same kind of search on B2B platforms such as XING or
LinkedIn in case your target audience is comprised more of businesses and/or managers.
