ISTE Educator Standards

ISTE Educator Standards: ISTE Student Standards:

2.1- Educators actively seek new and current
technology to better support their students
learning, while actively engaging with others to
see what works and self-reflecting on goals, they
set for themselves and their effectiveness.
2.2- Educators look for leadership opportunities
that lead to student success, while teaching
students with technology, advocating for the
technology they need, and teaching other
educators how and why it is a good learning
tool.
2.3- Educators encourage and modal active
participation in appropriate technology content
for students.
2.4- Educators collaborate with both other
educators and students to create authentic
learning and discover and use new technology
resources.
2.5- Educators use technology to adapt lessons
and activities to be inclusive to all students.
2.6- Educators use technology to teach students
how to take ownership while creating learning
opportunities for them to accomplish this.
2.7- Educators use technology to preform a
variety of assessments and adapt material to
student’s needs.
1.1- Student takes active role in the learning
goals through the use of technology.
1.2- Students takes responsibility of role and
rights in working and being a part of digital
world.
1.3 Student use digital resources in a way to
expand knowledge and create resources to
educate self and others.
1.4 Students are able to use technology along
with problem solving to come up with ideas and
solve preexisting issues.
1.5 Students are able to use technology in a way
to advance problem solving skills.
1.6 Students are able to clearly and efficiently
communicate through the digital platforms in an
appropriate way.
1.7 Students are able to use digital devices to
connect and collaborate with students across
the globe.

Noted similarities: Both deal with technology and student success in using it.

Noted differences: Educators deal more on assisting and guiding students, both by working with them directly
and collaborating with other educators in order to learn new ways to help them. The student standards are all
hands on for the student and their expectations and how the students are able to engage and grow through the
technology use.
