Central Location: Aim for a central area easily accessible by public transportation, major roads, or a
combination of both. This minimizes travel challenges for people with disabilities who might rely on buses,
taxis, or specialized transport
Proximity to Amenities: Being near hospitals, pharmacies, or public parks can be beneficial for patients
and their families.
Flat or Gently Sloping Terrain: Ideally, prioritize a site with flat or gently sloping terrain. This minimizes the
need for extensive modifications like elevators or switchbacks, which can be expensive and potentially
create accessibility challenges.
Accessibility to Utilities: Ensure the site has access to essential utilities like water, electricity, sewage, and
telecommunications. The cost of connecting to existing infrastructure can vary depending on location.
Public Transportation: Proximity to public transportation stops can be a major advantage, especially for
patients who rely on buses or trains to access the center.
