Windows 10 File Encryption Problems

Hi,

I'm having problems being able to encrypt a folder on Windows 10. I know how to perform the
actual encryption:

How to encrypt a file

1. Right-click (or tap and hold) a file or folder and selectProperties.

2. Select the Advanced... button and select the Encrypt contents to secure data check
box.
3. Select OK to close the Advanced Attributes window, selectApply, and then select OK.

But when I do this. "Encrypt contents to secure data" is grayed out and I can't click it. I've done
some research and have tried multiple methods to try to get this to work, but nothing has worked
out.

So far I've:

Step 1:

1. Press both of Win + R keys from your keyboard, input regeditand click OK button. Or type
regedit.exe in the searching charm bar and select it from the results.
2. Within Registry Editor, go to its left pane and navigate to the location:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\FileSystem

3. In the right-side pane, find out the NtfsDisableEncryption item and double-click on it. Then
change the Value data from 0 to 1, click OK button and make a rebooting to apply all changes.

If the above method still doesn’t take any effects, start the EFS service from Services.msc.

Step 2:

1. Open the Control Panel by icons view, click on theAdministrative

Tools > Services shortcut.
2. Double-click on “Encrypting File System (EFS)”, from General tab, and set the Startup type
to Automatic.
3. To finish press Apply > OK, and then restart your device.

Did not work....

Tried both steps. Neither worked. I am logged in as the administrator. I have no idea why I can't
do this? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!
