Cat® Brooms
Collect or windrow dirt and debris from a variety of surfaces.
Caterpillar® Pickup, Angle and Utility
Brooms are used for cleaning and
removing dirt, rock, snow and other
debris from streets, parking lots,
driveways, sidewalks and factory floors
in a variety of construction, industrial
and landscaping settings. They are
also ideal for paving, specialty trades,
recycling, demolition and airport
maintenance applications.
Cat Pickup Brooms sweep and deposit
material into an integrated hopper
bucket for easy removal and dumping.
Bi-directional capabilities of the bristles
allow pickup and utility brooms to
sweep in forward or reverse machine
travel. Optimum sweeping style is in
forward travel resulting in over-the-
brush pickup. Certain conditions call for
a dust pan method of sweeping, which
is accomplished in reverse travel.
Cat Angle Brooms use a windrowing
action to move loose debris ahead and
to the side of the surface being swept.
They can be oriented straight or angled
up to 30 degrees left or right of center
in forward travel.
Cat Utility Brooms sweep and collect
light debris on smooth surfaces in forward
or reverse travel. They can be adjusted
for greater bristle down-force in tough
applications such as sweeping course
material out of a cold planer cut.
Cat Brooms perform well on many
types of surfaces, including concrete,
asphalt, turf and snow. Caterpillar offers
various brush types for maximum
versatility in a variety of job conditions.

Cat Skid Steer Loaders and Multi
Terrain Loaders. Designed and built

Pickup Broom Features:
■ Pickup brooms are available in
two sweeping widths – the BP15B:
1524 mm (60 in), and the BP18B:
1829 mm (72 in). Both units operate
on the machine’s standard flow
hydraulics for maximum performance.
■ Direct drive motors provide
maximum performance and durability.
Both units use a single variable
speed, bidirectional gerotor style
hydraulic motor, contained in a
special housing that can be adjusted
to compensate for bristle wear.
■ Sight gauge on hopper hood ensures
proper positioning when operating
in forward travel and minimizes wear
on bucket edge and bottom.
■ Interior deflectors, rear bucket seal,
and side brush stripping direct dirt
and dust into the bucket and reduce
spillage and air-borne contaminants.
■ Large hopper capacity allows
greater productivity with longer
sweeping cycles before emptying
the hopper.
■ Wide bucket opening permits fast,
efficient dumping.
■ Dual chain and loader arm bracket
system holds brush housing
horizontally when emptying
the hopper.
■ Heavy-duty low profile pneumatic
guide wheel supports the hood during
sweeping.
■ Polypropylene/wire convoluted
brushes provide optimum results
for all-purpose sweeping.
■ Optional all-steel wire gutter brush
mounted on left or right side of
broom assists in removing material
from gutters and pavement edges.
■ Optional all-polypropylene and
all-steel wire convoluted brushes
are available for specialty applications.
■ Convoluted brush sections available
in half-kits for easy maintenance and
quick replacement.
■ Drop core design allows for quick
bristle replacement without removing
hydraulic hoses.
■ Caterpillar bolt-on cutting edges
on hopper bucket increases wear life.
■ Caterpillar XT-3 ES hose,
couplings and o-ring face seals
provide superior leak free performance
and reliability. All hoses are wrapped
with nylon woven Cordura sleeving
for added operator protection.
Connect under pressure hydraulic
quick disconnects enable fast
tool changes.

Angle Broom Features:
■ Angle broom is available in one size
and operates in two sweeping widths –
2134 mm (84 in) in straight travel
and 1702 mm (67 in) in angled travel.
The BA18 operates on the machine’s
standard flow hydraulics for maximum
performance.
■ Direct drive motor provides
maximum performance and durability.
A single variable speed, unidirectional
gerotor style motor is keyed to a
tapered hub on the brush core.
The motor is contained in a protective
housing and has limited rotational
capabilities to prevent key shearing
during initial startup torque.
■ Manual or hydraulic angling
for quick change angling up to
30 degrees right or left of center.
■ Hydraulic angling option allows
operator to control broom angle
from the operator compartment.
Manual angling brooms can be easily
converted to hydraulic angling.
■ Polypropylene/wire convoluted
brushes provide optimum results
for all-purpose sweeping.
■ Optional all-polypropylene and
all-steel wire convoluted brushes
are available for specialty applications.
■ Convoluted brush sections available
in half-kits for easy maintenance and
quick replacement.
■ Drop core design allows for quick
bristle replacement without removing
hydraulic hoses.
■ Heavy-duty storage stands allow the
broom to be transported and stored
without damaging the bristles.
■ Caterpillar XT-3 ES hose, couplings
and o-ring face seals provide superior
leak free performance and reliability.

Ease of Operation
Caterpillar Brooms are designed with the
operator in mind. The coupler interface
is matched to the machine’s mechanical
quick coupler system for fast, secure
work tool changes. Hydraulic hose
routing, hose length and quick
disconnects have been optimized to
ensure proper protection routing and
fit-up. Steps are conveniently located
to facilitate operator entry and exit.

Quick Coupler
Caterpillar Skid Steer Loader and Multi
Terrain Loader Work Tools incorporate
an interface that matches the machine’s
integrated mechanical and hydraulic
quick coupler systems. The rugged,
opposing wedge design holds the work
tool tightly and allows the operator
to quickly change from one high
performance Cat Work Tool to another.
Serviceability
Cat Brooms utilize proven components
such as Caterpillar hose, couplings,
O-ring face seals, hardware and
replaceable conical bits. A full line of
replacement parts is readily available
from your Cat dealer to help extend
work tool system life.

Utility Broom Features:
■ Utility brooms are available in

two sweeping widths – the BU115:

1510 mm (59 in), and BU118:
1865 mm (73 in). Both units operate
on the machine’s standard flow
hydraulics for maximum performance.
■ Direct drive motor provides

Bidirectional gerotor style drive
motor, recessed into the brush core
end, allows operation in forward or
reverse travel.
■ Reinforced high strength steel

and curved hood design increases

durability and protection from front
hood impacts. Front-mounted torque
tube provides added stiffness.
■ Bi-directional bristle rotation
allows for dust pan or over-the-brush
sweeping of debris into the integrated
hopper.
■ Adjustable locking nut allows brush
core to float, reducing bristle wear,
or provides positive brush down-force
for aggressive sweeping.
■ Positive brush down-force allows
aggressive sweeping in cuts by
rapidly dragging broom backwards
and sweeping millings under the
brush core and into the bucket.
■ Large hopper capacity allows
greater productivity with longer
sweeping cycles before emptying
the hopper.

extends the life of the hopper in
severe applications.

hopper is accomplished by lifting and
tilting the broom forward, allowing
the debris to fall out around the brush
core. Turning the brush core in the
opposite direction allows debris to
be ejected from the hopper.

is available for dust suppression.

couplings and o-ring face seals
