Civil Scope - New Wall Construction and Bridge Corridor Demolition

3. Civil Scope: New Wall Construction and Bridge Corridor Demolition:

3.1 New Wall Construction:

3.1.1 Pre-Construction Phase:

a. Site Preparation:
- Clear the construction area, removing any debris or obstacles.
- Verify the accuracy of site dimensions in accordance with the approved design plans.
b. Material Procurement:
- Procure necessary construction materials, including masonry units, mortar, and finishing materials.
- Ensure materials comply with design and quality standards.

3.1.2 Construction Phase:

a. Setting Out:
- Establish reference points and layout lines on the ground according to the approved design.
- Ensure accurate positioning for the new wall.
b. Masonry Construction:
- Commence masonry work according to approved drawings and specifications.
- Implement a systematic and plumb construction approach.
c. Quality Control:
- Conduct regular quality checks during construction, verifying dimensions and alignment.
- Rectify any discrepancies promptly.
d. Finishing:
- Apply finishes as specified in the architectural drawings.
- Ensure uniformity in texture and appearance.
3.1.3 Post-Construction Phase:

a. Curing and Drying:

- Allow adequate time for curing of masonry elements.
- Ensure proper drying of finishes before further handling.
b. Inspection:
- Conduct a final inspection to verify compliance with design and construction standards.
- Address any remaining issues or discrepancies.
c. Handover:
- Prepare a handover report documenting construction details, inspections, and approvals.
- Coordinate with relevant teams for seamless integration with MEP services.

3.2 Demolition of Bridge Corridor:

a. Structural Assessment:
- Conduct a thorough structural assessment of the bridge corridor slated for demolition to identify
load-bearing elements and potential hazards.
b. Pre-Demolition Preparation:
- Implement necessary safety measures, including the erection of safety barriers and signage.
- Disconnect MEP services (as outlined in the MEP disconnection method statement).
c. Demolition Method:
- Choose an appropriate demolition method (e.g., mechanical demolition, controlled dismantling)
considering safety, environmental impact, and nearby structures.
d. Demolition Execution:
- Employ skilled demolition crews and machinery to systematically dismantle the bridge corridor.
- Manage debris and waste removal in compliance with environmental regulations.
e. Safety Protocols:
- Implement a robust safety plan, including the use of personal protective equipment, dust control
measures, and emergency response procedures.
f. Environmental Considerations:
- Mitigate environmental impact by controlling dust, managing noise levels, and proper disposal of
demolition waste.
g. Site Restoration:
- Grade and prepare the site for future use or development, ensuring it meets safety and
environmental standards.

3.3 Coordination:
a. MEP Integration:
- Coordinate closely with MEP teams to ensure a seamless integration of MEP services with the
new wall construction.
b. Stakeholder Communication:
- Maintain open communication with all stakeholders, including project managers, engineers, and
local authorities.

3.4 Documentation:
a. Record Keeping:
- Document the entire civil scope, including design plans, structural assessments, demolition
methodologies, and completion reports.
- Photographically capture key stages of construction and demolition for reference and reporting
purposes.
