DETAILED LESSON PLAN IN SCIENCE 8

I. LEARNING OBJECTIVES

a. Content Standard

 The learners demonstrate an understanding of the

table of elements as an organizing tool to determine
the chemical properties of elements.

b. Performance Standard
 Students shall be able to create a poster on the
essential elements needed by the human body
indicating their sources their sources, roles, and
functions, required levels on the daily basis, and the
effects when taken in excess.

c. Learning Competencies
 Trace the development of the periodic table from
observations based on similarities in properties; and
S8MT-IIIg-h-11
 Used the periodic table to predict the chemical
behavior of an element. S8MT-IIIi-j-12

d. Objectives
At the end of the lesson, the students are expected to:
a. Identify various scientists and their contributions in the
Periodic table of elements.
b. Describe metals, nonmetals, and metalloid including
the basis in arranging the periodic table of elements.
c. Appreciate the essential elements that needed in the
human body.
e. Values Integration

II. Subject Matter and Instructional Materials

a. Topic: The Modern Periodic Table of Elements

1. Learning Activities

a. Prayer
Please stand, Let’ us pray (the students will pray)

b. Greetings

Good morning class! Good morning Ma’am .

How are you today? We’re fine sir.

c. Checking of Attendance

Before we start our discussion, let us check

first your attendance say “present and raise
your hand if you are here.

d. Review
Last discussion, Ma’am discussed about the Our lesson was all about electronic
electron configuration right? configuration.

What is electron configuration?

Yes (Student name) Electron configuration is the

arrangement of electrons in shells
and subshells around an atom's

nucleus.
.
2. Lesson Proper

a. Explore
Before we proceed to our lesson let
have first an activity.

Activity 1: WHAT AM I?

You’re going to identify the picture if it is

metal, non metal,or metalloid.
1. SILICON
2. SULFUR
3. TITANIUM
4. BORON
5. CARBON (STUDENT ANSWER)
6. ZINC
7. ALUMINUM
8. GERMANIUM

Okay very good.

Based on our activity, what do you think is our

lesson for today?

Very good! It is all about elements.

Based on the activity that you did do you have

any what will be our lesson for today?
Possible answer of students:
Yes ( Students Name) Our lesson for today is all about elements.

Okay Very Good!

Our topic for day is all about the The modern

periodic table.

Now I have here a short video clip about the

history of periodic table. Please listen
carefully.

(video clip presentation)

Based on the video what is all about?

Possible answer of students:
Yes (student name) It’s about the elements and the history of
