Introduction
What is Community Health ?
Community health is a medical specialty that focuses on the physical
and mental well-being of the people in a specific geographic region.
This important subsection of public health includes initiatives to help
community members maintain and improve their health, prevent the
spread of infectious diseases and prepare for natural disasters.
Community health services are crucial for improving health outcomes,
reducing health disparities, and promoting health equity. By delivering
healthcare services directly to the community, these programs can
effectively reach underserved populations also .

What are the types of healthcare in Bangladesh?

The Bangladesh healthcare sector comprises of hospitals, clinics,

diagnostic centers, clinical trials, outsourcing, telemedicine, and medical
devices and equipment.
Health care delivery is a daunting challenge area of the
Bangladesh's healthcare systems. This paper looks at
factual evidence to describe the main challenges facing
health care delivery in Bangladesh, including
absenteeism, corruption, shortage of doctors/nurses,
inefficiency and mismanagement.
The health system in Bangladesh is described as
pluralistic in that community-level and facility-based
services are delivered by the government, non-
governmental organisations (NGOs), and private for-
profit providers. This pluralism is thought to have
contributed to Bangladesh's successes in improving
health outcomes.

PAKISTAN
Healthcare services in Pakistan have undergone significant
development and improvement over the years. The
government, along with private organizations, has taken steps
to enhance healthcare infrastructure, increase access to
medical services, and improve the quality of care provided to
the population. Here are some key aspects of healthcare
services in Pakistan:
1. Healthcare Infrastructure: Pakistan has a mix of public and
private healthcare facilities. Public hospitals, clinics, and
dispensaries are available across the country, particularly in
urban areas. Private hospitals and clinics, offering a wider range
of services, are also present in major cities.

2. Primary Healthcare: Primary healthcare services are provided

through Basic Health Units (BHUs) and Rural Health Centers
(RHCs) in rural areas, and dispensaries and clinics in urban areas.
These facilities offer basic medical services, immunizations,
maternal and child healthcare, and preventive
3. Hospitals: Pakistan has a network of government-run hospitals and
tertiary care centers. These include teaching hospitals, specialized
hospitals, and general hospitals. Some notable hospitals include Jinnah
Hospital Lahore, Aga Khan University Hospital, and Shaukat Khanum
Memorial Cancer Hospital & Research Centre.

4. Maternal and Child Healthcare: The government has made efforts to

improve maternal and child healthcare. Lady Health Workers (LHWs) are
deployed in rural areas to provide essential healthcare services to women
and children. Maternal and child health centers and family planning
services are also available.
5. Public Health Initiatives: The government has initiated various public
health programs to address major health challenges. These include the
National Tuberculosis Control Program, Malaria Control Program, and
programs for the prevention and control of HIV/AIDS.

6. Private Healthcare Sector: The private healthcare sector in Pakistan has

grown significantly. Private hospitals, clinics, and diagnostic centers offer a
wide range of medical services. Many private hospitals are equipped with
modern facilities and provide specialized care in areas such as cardiology,
oncology, and orthopedics.

7. Health Insurance: Health insurance coverage is expanding in Pakistan,

with both public and private insurance providers offering various plans.
These insurance schemes aim to provide financial protection and improve
access to healthcare services for individuals and families.
Public sector health care system endeavors to deliver healthcare through a three
level healthcare delivery system and a range of public health interventions. The
first level includes Basic Health Units (BHUs) and Rural Health Centers (RHCs)
founding the fundamental of the primary healthcare model, secondary care
encompassed first and second referral facilities providing acute, ambulatory and
inpatient care through Tehsil Headquarter Hospitals (THQs) and District
Headquarter Hospitals (DHQs) and tertiary care including teaching hospitals.

The rising population pressure on state health institutions has allowed the private
sector to bridge the gap of rising demand and limited public health facilities.
A number of private hospitals, clinics and diagnostic labs has increased
considerably and is contributing health services in the country.
Conclusion
community health service programs in
different countries serve as inspiring examples
of how healthcare can be delivered effectively
at the community level. By placing emphasis on
community engagement, preventive care, and
equitable access, these programs have the
potential to transform healthcare systems and
improve the well-being of populations
worldwide.
