Coronavirus strikes again

The Covid-19 pandemic has shifted the world and has changed the way we live our daily
lives. It has turned the lives of thousands of people upside down and shattered the health systems
around the world.
Coronavirus has affected more than 150 countries and exceeded 125 million cases
worldwide. In Romania, it reached the threshold of 913,000 cases and tore apart more than
22,000 families.
At the beginning of the year, things seemed to return to normal, and everything seemed to
turn positive, but the coronavirus came back into effect with stronger and more dangerous
variations of the virus than the previous one.
According to "Centers of Disease Control and Prevention", United Kingdom has
identified a variant with a large number of mutations in the fall of 2020. This variant expands
more easily and quickly than other variants. In January 2021, UK experts reported that this
variant may be associated with an increased risk of death compared to other variant viruses, but
further studies are needed to confirm this finding. Since then, it has been detected in many
countries throughout the world. This variant was first detected in the United States in late
December 2020.
Despite all the restrictions and rules, in March, cases appear to have started to rise again.
Given the growing number of cases and the emergence of new strains of coronavirus, Romania
and its health system seem to be preparing for a new wave of Covid-19.
