OVERVIEW
This Alarm Monitoring System regularly monitor the
STBD M/E cylinder exhaust temperature and displays the current
reading alarm status on the HMI panel. The system is integrated
with Programmable Logical Controller.

The system integrated with 16 nos. of cylinder

temperature (Thermocouple sensor) and transmit as current signal
(4-20mA) to the PLC circuit. In the conditions of high temperature,
sensor fault and temperature deviation, the system generate visual
and audible alarms

This system consists of one CPU module, two analog

Input module and one HMI Panel & communication through
Profinet Protocol.

When the alarm generates, activates the main acoustic

alarm located in engine room. The operator can mute buzzer and
acknowledge the alarm either through HMI touch panel or through
the push buttons.

OPERATING PROCEDURE
The HMI display consist of the following buttons and
they are configured as: ACK, RST, Current Alarm, Alarm history,
Test and Home. The buzzer output can mute by pressing the MUTE
button and the Alarm condition can reset by pressing the ACK
button.

The screens are follows

Fig.3 shows ‘FAULT’ if any open loop detected due to the
damaged sensor/converter or wiring.

Fig.4 Deviation Alarm

Fig.4 shows if any cylinder temperature deviate beyond the set

value (+/-), alarm will generate with indication

Current Alarm screen displays the present alarms with date and
time. In history, alarm appear as buffer. The recent alarm shown on
top of the alarm bar.

TEST

This button is used for self-checking of HMI & PLC. When this
button is pressed, the external audible alarm gets activated & the
alarm indications appears on the screen.

TROUBLE SHOOTING

ELECTRICAL
Sl.No. Description Causes Remedy
1. No display in HMI - Power failure - Check the circuit breaker
- Communication cable and fuse.
fault - Check the communication
- Display damaged cable.
- Replace the HMI.

2. PLC panel failure - Power failure - Check the circuit breaker

- Loose connection and fuses.
- Cable fault - Check the panel internal
wiring.
