2. Major Site Activities & Progress in the Reporting Period

2.1 Monitoring System
Monitoring had been carried out by YL in accordance with the approved monitoring plan in the reporting period. The
readings at various monitoring points were taken twice per week (except VCP1/VCP1a to VCP5/VCP5a) by Patrick
Yuen Land Surveyor Co., Ltd (the independent surveying firm).The monitoring check points readings extracted from
the survey reports are summarized in the table below:-

Notes:
i) BUSM12 on the 400 dia. fresh water pipe at the junction of Wai Ping Close and Wai Wo Street has not been installed due
to the permissions from relevant authorities had not received in the reporting period.
ii) Vibration monitoring points (VCP1 to VCP5) were relocated to the NSRson 7/4/2021 and renamed as VCP1a to VCP5a
for monitoring vibration during the piling period continuously in real time.
iii) The monitoring device at VCP2/2a was out of order and the monitoring device at VCP3/3a was relocated to the location
VCP2/2a.
iv) Tilting marker TM1 & Building settlement marker no. BUSM7 (Plastic tape markers) located at street Lamp post of Pak
Wo Street were reported damaged on 29/10/2021. New tilting marker TM1A & Building settlement markers BUSM7A
were installed on the same street lamp post and new position of the markers surveyed on 29/10/2021.
2.2 Steel H-Pile Installation Works

a). Pitching/driving of total 340 nos. steel H-piles commenced on 12/01/2021 and completed on
12/06/2021.
b). 51nos.steel H-piles were selected by ArchSD for PDA (restrike) test. Restrike test was commenced on
16/07/2021and completed on 24/07/2021.
c). 23 nos. steel H-piles were selected by ArchSDon 05/08/2021for CAPWAP analysisto assess the
allowable load capacity.
d). The following statics pile load tests were carried out from 16/08/2021 to 11/09/2021.

The results of all tested steel H-piles (6 no.) were found to be satisfactory.
2.3 Pile Cap & Strap Beam Construction

100% (51 out of 51 no.) of pile cap concreting completed.
During the reporting period, pile cap no. PC42 and associated strap beams no.SB68, SB71completed the
concreting.
2.4 Concrete Column Construction

2.4.1 From pile cap to G/F level (+9.4mpd)
100% (51 out of 51 no.) of column concreting completed. During the reporting period, column numbers C42,
C43 were concreted.
2.4.2 From G/F (+9.4mpd) to 1/F (+15.9mpd)

2.13 Fence Wall construction (located at northern & north-eastern site boundary)

activity was carried out.
2.14 Retaining Wall Construction (located at western site boundary adjacent to Pak Wo Road)
a) 100% (10 out of 10 Bays) base slab of retaining wall concreting completed.
b) 100% (10 out of 10 Bays) wall stem of retaining wall concreting completed.
c) 100 % (28 out of 28 nos.) short cantilever beams (RWCB for supporting surface channel) concreting
completed.
d) 100% (27 out of 27 nos.) cantilever beams (RWCB for supporting the 2.5m high fence wall) concreting
completed. During the reporting period, cantilever beam no. RWCB32 to RWCB35, RWCB41 and
associated concrete tie beams no. RWB5 to RWB8, RWB14, and RWB15 completed the concreting.
2.15 Underground Manhole Construction

During the reporting period, no underground manhole concreting activity was carried out.
2.16 Tower crane floor climbing

On late October,2022, the mast of the tower crane was climbed up 13.5m from G/F level(+9.4mpd) and finally
supported on two steel collars which were installed at 2/F level (+20.4mpd) & 5/F level (+33.9mpd)
2.15 Excavation & Lateral Support (ELS) Works

2.15.1 Northern steel sheet pile wall ( wall adjacent to Fanling Highway)
100% (161 out of 161 numbers) of steel sheet piles were driven to their design toe level.
2.15.2 Western steel sheet pile wall (wall adjacent to Pak Wo Road)
a) 100% (168 out of 168 numbers) of steel sheet piles were driven to their design toe level.
b) 100% layer 1, layer 2 steel waling& steel struts (8 numbers) installation completed.

2.16 G/F on grade Slab construction

90% on-grade slab concreting completed. During the reporting period, on grade reinforced concrete slabs
number S77 & S78 were concreted.
3 Safety & Environmental Issues on Site

To ensure the safety systems of work on site are followed properly, the RE team has enhanced the safety
supervision by i) participating the weekly safety walks; ii) carrying out spot checking of high risk construction
activities on site; and iii) conducting daily review with the Contractor of all high risk activities.
4 Quality Control and Workmanship Issues on Site

The workmanship/quality control of the construction works were found satisfactory in general. No major
defects/ non-conforming items were observed during routine inspection in the reporting period.
5 Material Sampling/Testing & Others

5.1 The permission for the use of 135 nos. steel sheet piles (Batch 2), 2 nos. 10mm thick steel plates, 2 nos. 20mm
thick steel plates and 10 nos. 100x100x6mm steel angles (Batch 1) was granted by RE on 20/07/2021.
5.2 Steel sheet pile, FSP -III, S355GP, 400 widths x12m long (Batch 3) was delivered to site on October, 2021 and
steel samples were taken to test at the Public Works Laboratories. The result of the steel sheet pile material test
was found to be satisfactory.
5.3 Steel reinforcing bar (Batch 1) for pile cap construction was delivered to site on September, 2021. Steel rebar
samples were tested at Public Works Laboratories and the result of the steel rebar material test was found to be

satisfactory.
5.4 Steel fabric (B503) for carriageway road widening works – test samples of the steel mesh were tested at
HOKLAS laboratory and the results of the steel mesh rebar test were found to be satisfactory.
5.5 Steel reinforcing bar (Batch 2) for precast concrete element construction was delivered to YLW site (located in
mainland China) on September, 2021. Test samples of the steel rebar were tested at HOKLAS laboratory &
Public Works Laboratories, the test results of the steel rebar were found to be satisfactory.
5.6 Steel reinforcing bar (Batch 3) for pile cap construction delivered to site on December, 2021. Steel rebar samples
send to Public Works Laboratories for testing, the test results of the steel rebar were found to be satisfactory.
5.7 Steel reinforcing bar (Batch 4) for pile cap construction delivered to site on late December, 2021. Test samples of
the steel rebar were tested at HOKLAS laboratory & Public Works Laboratories.
5.8 Steel reinforcing bar (Batch 5) for pile cap construction delivered to site on January, 2022.Test samples of the steel
rebar were sent to Public Works Laboratories for testing.
5.9 Steel fabric B503 and A193 for on grade concrete slab were tested at HOKLAS laboratory and the test results of
the steel mesh rebar were found to be satisfactory.
5.10 Steel fabric C503 & A193 (Batch 2) for external Driveway & Car parking area were tested at HOKLAS
laboratory and the test results of the steel mesh rebar were found to be satisfactory.
5.11 Steel reinforcing bar (Batch 1) for superstructure construction delivered to off-site storage yard on May 2022.Test
samples of the steel rebar were sent to Public Works Laboratories for testing and the test result was found to be
satisfactory.
5.12 Steel fabric C503 & A193 (Batch 3) for ground floor on grade concrete slab delivered to site on May, 2022.
Test sample of the steel fabric was sent to Public Works Laboratories for testing, the test result was found to be
satisfactory.
5.13 Hot rolled Steel H-beam (254x254x73kg) for lagging UC of excavation and lateral support works delivered to site
on May,2022. Test sample of the steel H-beam was sent to Public Works Laboratories for testing, the test results of
the steel H-beam were found to be satisfactory.
5.14 Steel reinforcing bar (Batch 2) for superstructure construction was delivered to off-site storage yard on June
2022.Test samples of the steel rebar were sent to Public Works Laboratories for testing, the test result of the steel
bar was found to be satisfactory.
5.15 Steel reinforcing bar (Batch 3) for superstructure construction was delivered to off-site storage yard on July
bars (diameter of 12mm, 16mm, 20mm, 25mm, 40mm ) was found to be satisfactory. Steel bar samples of 10mm
diameter do not meet the permissible deviation requirement as specified in CS2:2012, Table 3 - Permissible
deviation from nominal mass. Additional or new batch of 10mm diameter steel bar need to be sent to Public
Works laboratory for testing.
5.16 Steel plates (grade S275J0 – 16mm, 20mm thick) were sent to Public Works Laboratories for testing, the test
result of the steel plates (customer test request no. SP-7) was found to be satisfactory.

5.17 Steel reinforcing bar (Batch 4) for superstructure construction was delivered to off-site storage yard on July
bars (diameter of 10mm, 16mm, and 40mm) was found to be satisfactory. However, steel bar samples of 12mm
diameter do not meet the permissible deviation requirement as specified in CS2:2012, Table 3 - Permissible
deviation from nominal mass. Additional steel bar (12mm diameter) was re-tested and re-test result of the steel bar
(mass per meter length) was found to be satisfactory.
5.18 Steel plates (grade S275J0 – 5mm, 12mm, 16mm, 25mm thick & grade S355J0 – 20mm thick) were sent to
Public Works Laboratories for testing in August 2022, the test result of the steel plates (customer test request no.
SP-8, SP-9) was found to be satisfactory.
5.19 Steel reinforcing bar (Batch 5 & 6) for superstructure construction was delivered to off-site storage yard on
August 2022.Steel bar sample was sent to PWL for testing and the test result was found to be satisfactory.
5.20 Soil samples of imported soil for backfilling proposed by the Contractor were tested in August, 2022 by Public
Work Laboratories. The preliminary results are as follows: Particle size distribution of soil and chemical analysis
(total Sulphate content) of soil comply with ASD specification. However, the liquid limit of the soil does not
comply with ASD specification. Additional soil samples were sent to PWL for retesting on September, 2022. The
result of retesting the soil sample (liquid limit of soil) is found to be satisfactory.
5.21 Steel reinforcing bar (Batch 7) for superstructure construction was delivered to off-site storage yard on October
bar is found to be satisfactory.
5.22 Steel reinforcing bar (Batch 8) for superstructure construction was delivered to off-site storage yard on November
2022. Test samples of the steel rebar were sent to Public Works Laboratories for testing. The preliminary test results
of the steel rebar (bar diameter of 12mm, 16mm, 25mm) were found to be satisfactory. For 10mm diameter bar, test
sample does not comply with the tensile strength & total elongation at maximum force requirements specified in
CS2:2021, hence the test result is not satisfactory.
5.23 Steel angles of sizes 50x50x5mm, 30x30x5mm(grade S275J0) and 125x75x8mm(grade S355J0) for Aluminum
blade, Louvre, Aluminum Cladding (Batch 1) were delivered to off-site storage yard on November,2022. Test
samples of the steel angles were sent to Public Works Laboratories for testing. The preliminary test results of the
50x50x5mm, 30x30x5mm & 125x75x8mm were found to be satisfactory. For 75x50x5mm thick steel angle, the
tensile strength of the test sample is found to be lower than minimum tensile strength requirement specified in BS EN
10025-2:2004, hence the test result is not satisfactory.
5.24 Steel plate of the following thickness (10mm, 12mm, 16mm, 2mm, 3mm, 4mm, 5mm, 6mm, 8mm, 20mm – grade
S275J0) & 12mm thick (grade S355J0) were delivered to site on December,2022. Test samples of the steel plates
were sent to Public Works Laboratories for testing. The preliminary test results of the steel plates were found to be
satisfactory.
5.25 Steel reinforcing bar (Batch 9 & 10) for superstructure construction was delivered to off-site storage yard on
December 2022 & January,2023. Test samples of the steel rebar were sent to Public Works Laboratories for testing,

the test result of the steel bar (bar diameter of 12mm, 16mm, 25mm, 32mm, 40mm) is found to be satisfactory.
5.26 Steel reinforcing bar (Batch 11) for superstructure construction was delivered to off-site storage yard on January,
2023. Test samples of the steel rebar were sent to Public Works Laboratories for testing and the test result of the
steel bar is found to be satisfactory.
5.27 Steel reinforcing bar (Batch 12) for superstructure construction was delivered to off-site storage yard on January,
2023. Test samples of the steel rebar were sent to Public Works Laboratories for testing, the test result of the
steel bar (10mm diameter) is found to be satisfactory.
5.28 Steel reinforcing bar (Batch 13) for superstructure construction was delivered to off-site storage yard on February,
2023. Test samples of the steel rebar (12mm & 16mm diameter) were sent to Public Works Laboratories for testing
and the test result of the steel bar is found to be satisfactory.
5.29 A steel angle of sizes 75x50x5mm (grade S275J0) was delivered to off-site storage yard on January, 2023. Test
samples of the steel angles were sent to Public Works Laboratories for testing, the test results of the steel angle was
found to be satisfactory.
5.30 Steel channel of sizes 200x90x 30.3kg/m (grade S355J0) was delivered to off-site storage yard on January, 2023.
Test samples of the steel channel were sent to Public Works Laboratories for testing, the preliminary test results of
the steel angle was found to be satisfactory.
5.31 Steel reinforcing bar (Batch 14) for superstructure construction was delivered to off-site storage yard on February
2023. Test samples of the steel rebar were sent to Public Works Laboratories for testing. The preliminary test results
of the steel rebar (bar diameter of 12mm, 40mm) were found to be satisfactory. For 32mm diameter bar, test sample
does not comply with the tensile/yield strength ratio requirements specified in CS2:2021, hence the test result is not
satisfactory. The 32 diameter steel bar sample was retest on early March, 2023 and the tensile test result was found to
be satisfactory.
5.32 Steel reinforcing bar (Batch 15) (bar diameter of 12mm, 16mm, 25mm,32mm &40mm) for superstructure
construction was delivered to off-site storage yard on March, 2023. Test samples of the steel rebar were sent
to Public Works Laboratories for testing and the tensile test result was found to be satisfactory.
5.33 Hot rolled Steel H-beam (305x305x97kg/m & 152x152x30kg/m – file no. HB-5) for structural steelworks
was delivered to site on March, 2023. Test sample of the steel H-beam was sent to Public Works Laboratories
for testing, the test results of the steel H-beam were found to be satisfactory.
5.34 Steel angle of sizes 50x50x6mm, 75x50x5mm, 100x100x8mm - file no.SA-5 (grade S275J0) was delivered
to off-site storage yard on March, 2023. Test samples of the steel angles were sent to Public Works
Laboratories for testing, the test results of the steel angle was found to be satisfactory.
5.35 Steel channel of size 150x75x 17.9kg/m - file no. SCC-4 (grade S275J0) was delivered to off-site storage
yard on March, 2023. Test samples of the steel angles were sent to Public Works Laboratories for testing, the
test results of the steel angle was found to be satisfactory.
5.36 Steel plate of thickness 5mm, 6mm, 8mm, 10mm &12mm – file no. SP-12 (grade S275J0) was delivered to
site on March, 2023. Test samples of the steel plates were sent to Public Works Laboratories for testing and

the test results of the steel plates were found to be satisfactory.

5.37 Steel reinforcing bar (Batch 16) (bar diameter of 10mm, 12mm, 25mm & 40mm) for superstructure
construction was delivered to off-site storage yard on late March, 2023. Test samples of the steel rebar were
sent to Public Works Laboratories for testing & the preliminary test result was found to be satisfactory.
5.38 Steel angle of sizes 40x40x4mm, 75x50x5mm, 100x100x8mm - file no.SA-6 (grade S275J0) was delivered
to off-site storage yard on March, 2023. Test samples of the steel angles were sent to Public Works
Laboratories for testing, the test results of the steel angle was found to be satisfactory.
5.39 Steel angle of sizes 150 x 100 x 10mm, 100 x 50 x 6mm - file no.SA-7 (grade S275J0) was delivered to
off-site storage yard on April, 2023. Test samples of the steel angles were sent to Public Works Laboratories
for testing, the test results of the steel angle was found to be satisfactory.
5.40 Steel channels of size 127 x 64 x 14.9kg/m & 78 x 38 x 6.7kg/m - file no. SCC-5 (grade S275J0) was
delivered to off-site storage yard on April, 2023. Test samples of the steel angles were sent to Public Works
Laboratories for testing & the test results of the steel channel was found to be satisfactory.
5.41 Steel reinforcing bar (Batch 17) (bar diameter of 12mm, 32mm & 40mm) for superstructure construction
was delivered to off-site storage yard on May, 2023. Test samples of the steel rebar were sent to Public
Works Laboratories for testing & the preliminary test result was found to be satisfactory.
5.42 Steel angle of sizes 25 x 25 x 5mm,- file no.SA-8 (grade S275J0) was delivered to off-site storage yard on April,
2023. Test samples of the steel angles were sent to Public Works Laboratories for testing, the preliminary test results
of the steel angle was found to be satisfactory.
5.43 Steel reinforcing bar (Batch 18) (bar diameter of 12mm, 16mm & 40mm) for superstructure construction was
delivered to off-site storage yard on May, 2023. Test samples of the steel rebar were sent to Public Works
Laboratories for testing
