1) Conduct research of Single-Phase Transformer and Three-Phase Transformer.

ANSWER:

A single-phase transformer is a type of power transformer that utilizes single-phase alternating current,
meaning the transformer relies on a voltage cycle that operates in a unified time phase. On the other hand, three-
phase transformers are a type of transformers that are used to change voltages of electrical systems with three
phases. There are different types of configurations, namely: star-star, delta-delta, star-delta, and delta-star. Three-
phase transformers are passive machines that pass electrical energy between circuits. In the secondary circuit, a
magnetic flux induces an electromotive force (emf), thus stepping up (increase) or stepping down (decrease)
voltages without altering the frequency.

2) Explain what are the difference between Single-Phase Transformer and Three-Phase Transformer

AMSWER:

The main difference between single-phase and three-phase transformers lies in their number of phases. A
single-phase transformer has one winding on each side of its iron core, while a three-phase transformer has three
windings, one for each phase. A three-phase transformer is much simpler to assemble than a single-phase
transformer. It is simple to obtain a single-phase current from a three-phase device, but it is more complicated to do
the reverse. Since the three-phase system has three single-phase windings, it can supply power to a single circuit.

3) Explain what are the functions and applications of Single-Phase Transformer and Three-Phase
Transformer according to Industrial Engineering and Process requirements. Provide sample pictures for
proper reference and answers.

A single-phase transformer is frequently used for power distribution and voltage reduction for residential and
commercial applications. When used with appliances, the lower voltage output is often rectified into DC current before
powering appliances, such as a computer or television sets. Meanwhile, the three-phase transformer can further
exempt the high-frequency pulse interference and noise from the internal coupling of the transformer, it is generally
used in precision machine tools. In addition, the three-phase transformer products are also widely used in industrial
and mining enterprises, textile machinery, printing, packaging, petroleum chemical industry, schools, shopping malls,
elevators, post and telecommunication, medical machinery, office equipment, test equipment, industrial automation
equipment, household appliances, high-rise buildings, machine tools, the transmission and distribution of the tunnel
and the imported equipment to ensure the normal voltage.
