GLASSWARE FUNCTIONS

Beaker A beaker is a cylindrical glass or plastic


vessel used for holding liquids.
Burette Burette is a piece of laboratory equipment
often used to dispense and measure
varied volumes of liquid
Counting Chamber A counting chamber is a device used to
count the number of cells per volume of a
solution.
Diluting pipette A piece of equipment called a WBC pipette
is used to make the TLC (total leukocyte
count) solution. It results in a 1:20 dilution.
Evaporating dish A piece of glassware used in laboratories
for evaporating solutions and supernatant
liquids
Graduated Cyclinder An essential tool for accurate liquid
measurements.
Medicine dropper Medicine droppers can also be used to
give infant formula, store essential oils,
and carry out laboratory work.
Serological pipette The serological pipette is frequently used
in the laboratory for transferring milliliter
volumes of liquid
Cover Slip The cover slip protects the ocular lens
from damage by acting as a barrier
between it and the specimen
Glass slide It helps to keep the stage, or the part of
the microscope below the lens, clean.
Test tubes Used to hold, mix, or heat small amounts
of solid or liquid chemicals
Thermometer To measure temperature accurately.
Watch glass Used in chemistry for evaporation.
Urinometer set Measuring the specific gravity of urine
Volumetric flask Calibrated to hold a specific amount of
liquid at a particular temperature.
