The first computers were people! That is, electronic computers were given this
name because they performed the work that had previously been assigned to
people. "Computer" was originally a job title: it was used to describe those
human beings whose job it was to perform the repetitive calculations required to
compute such things as navigational tables, tide charts, and planetary positions
for astronomical almanacs.
There are many uses of computers in everyday life. The following outline some
of them.
Communication
Computers make all modern communication possible. They operate telephone
switching systems, coordinate satellite launches and operations, help generate
special effects for movies, and control the equipment in all phases of television
and radio broadcasts.
Science and research
Computers are used by scientists and researchers in many ways to collect,
store, manipulate, and analyze data. Running simulations is one of the most
important applications. Data representing a real-life system is entered into the
computer, and the computer manipulates the data in order to show how the
natural system is likely to behave under a variety of conditions. n this way
scientists can test new theories and designs or can examine a problem that
does not lend itself to direct experimentation
Education
Computers have proved to be valuable educational tools. Computer-assisted
instruction, or CA, uses computerized lessons that range from simple drills and
practice sessions to complex interactive tutorials. These programs have
become essential teaching tools in medical schools and military training
centers, where the topics are complex and the cost of human teachers is
extremely high. Educational aids, such as some encyclopedias and other major
reference works, are available to personal-computer users either on magnetic
disks or optical discs or through various telecommunication networks.
Computers have now for several decades brought automation to the table in
small, medium, and large businesses. There are word processing and
spreadsheet applications for small businesses all the way up to enterprise-wide
applications that cover every aspect of a large business such as accounting,
inventory, shop floor, management, and feature real-time reporting capability
that can give a snapshot glimpse of the financial position of a company at any
point in time.

The government has a wide variety of computer applications. Government uses
many of the same tools as small to large businesses in desktop type
applications and many that are much more advanced that are used in the
military. Manufacturing applications involve computer-aided design and
applications that are used to track production from the time a raw material is
moved into the warehouse all the way to the production floor and back into the
warehouse as a finished good.


mpact of Computer.
Computers are commonly used items in many areas. t is an important thing to
people, especially the people who run organizations, industry, etc. . . Almost
anything you know is run or made by computers. Cars and jets were designed
on computers, traffic signals are run by computers, most medical equipment
use computers and space exploration was started with computers. Most of the
jobs today require the use of computers. These 'mechanical brains' made a
huge impact on our society. t would be hard if we didn't have the computer
around.
The Computers changed the world a lot. t helped man step forward into the
future. Thanks to computers, space exploraation came true, new designs of
vehicles and other trasportaion were made, entertainment became more
entertaining, medical science made more cures for diseases, etc. . . The
computers impacted our lives in many ways. You may not notice it but they did
make life a lot easier. Without computers, the world would be a harder place to
live in. Thanks to the computers, everyday life is easier for us. Some people
may disagree but most wouldn't. Some people say that computers are taking
away man power. That maybe true but computers did make the impossible
possible.

Computer to day.
When we ask ourselves why we use computers today, we come up with many
answers. can not even imagine what our world would be without computers!
personally use my computer for pretty much everything. use it for my
education, entertainment, and as an information source. agree i think many of
us use our computer for too much of the easiest things we could do for
ourselves.

The computer is just something that is here to stay.
