1.Objective
Confirm the resistance sensor no disconnection and no shortening circuit
by measurement of resistance.
2.Test procedure
(1) Carried out after site erection. (After completion of wiring.)
(2) Measure the resistance at the G/M terminal board.
# (3) It does not take a over current. (Measuring by hi-resistance digital circuit tester.)
(4) It should be converted by under formula or table.

Auxiliary equipment check of Water Flow Meter {1/1)

1. Objective
Confirm the Water flow meter operation check.

2.Test procedure.
(1) Set up the pipe line and filling the cooling water to pipe line.
(2) Before the operation, check the valve open/closed condition of pipe.
(3) It should be flowing cooling water to pipe line and each cooler.

(4) First should be checked leakage from pipe line and each cooler.
(5) It shall be set the flow by orifice plate or orifice valve.

Auxiliary equipment check of Adjustment of Oil Level Switch for Oil Bracket (1/1)

1. Objective
Set the operating oil level switch for oil bracket.

2. Test procedure
(1) Compare actual oil level and indicator oil level and adjust the oil
level of differential pressure transmitter pointer output level.
(2) Adjust and set the alarm/trip value by transmitter.
(3) After the set, shall be check oil leakage.

Confirm the brake operation check at precommissioning.

(1) Operating the brake by hand at precommissioning test and
measure the moving up(delivery) and down(retum back) time.

1. Purpose
Rotor I ifting and making the oi I fi Im between thrust pats and thrust runner.
2. Test procedure
(l). Set the dial gauge on the rotor shaft and check the reverse thrust gaps.
It shat I be I ifted to nearly 4mm (target 3.5mm), and measure I ifting value versus pressure v~

(2). Before I ifting, shal I be checked locking device and oi I level of high pressure pump unit.

1. Objective
Confirm the generator stator(armature) and rotor(field) winding resistance.

2. Test procedure
(1) The winding resistance shall be measured by voltage drop method under the normal
condition. Also winding temperature shall be record.
(2) Check the terminal marking with drawings.

Measurement of Insulation resistance (1/2)

1.0bjective
Confirm the winding insulation resistance by insulation resistance meter.

2. Test procedure
(1) Generator stator winding
Disconnect the neutral earth bar. Rotor winding and other coil are earthen.
Insulation resistance of winding shall be measured by D.C. 1000 voltage insulation
resistance meter for 1 min.
(2) Generator + Exciter Rotor winding
Before the test, shall be connect the J-K terminal with shorting cable.
Measured by D.C 500 voltage insulation resistance meter for 1 minute
from Gen. slip ring.
(3) Exciter Stator winding
Shall be checked insulation resistance at j-k terminal.
Measured by D.C 500 voltage insulation resistance meter for 1 minute
(4) Winding temperature, ambient temperature, humidity and weather shall be recorded.

Measurement of Polarization lndex(P.I) (1/2)

1.0bjective
Confirm the Polarization lndex(PI) of Generator stator windings.

2. Test procedure
(1) Same as insulation resistance(megger) test.
Disconnect the neutral earth cable. Rotor winding and other coil are earthen.
(2) Stator winding is connected each of phases. (R,T,S phase together)
(3) Polarization index(PI) shall be calculated by insulation resistance of one miniute charging and
insulation resistance of ten minutes charging.

Brake Operation Test (Retardation curve)

1. Objective
Confirm the smooth stopping operation of machine from rated speed.
2. Test procedure
(1) Operating the machine at rated speed and check the bearing temp.
(2) Operating the machine is stopping by normal operation mode.
(3) At same time, measured the time of decreasing speed and brake operated time.
(4) After machine stop, brake shoe temperature shall be measured.

Vibration Measurement

1. Objective
To comprehend the vibration condition of each part of mode on Gen./Turb. operate
condition.
2. Test procedure
(1) At the trial running, vibration and shaft run out shall be measured.
(2) The Generator is kept at rated speed and no load & load condition.
(3) Measure vibration and shaft run out by vibration meter
and deflection ( by Dial indicator).
(4) Load condition is kept normally load (37.5MVA) condition.

Voltage condition check (No load Saturation Characteristic Test)

1. Objective
Confirm the relationship between Gen. terminal voltage and excitation field current.
2. Test procedure
(1) Machine is kept at rated speed and excited from adjustable power source
or MVR (AVR by manual mode operation.)
(2) Generator shall be gradually excited up to about 110 % of the rated terminal
voltage.
(3) Line to line voltage, excitation current and voltage of generator shall be measured
for each step of excitation current.
(4) For the induced rated voltage, It shall be measured each line voltage for
calculation of unbalance value.

Measurement of Shaft Voltage

1. Objective
Confirm the function of bearing bracket insulation.

2. Test procedure
(1) Measure during No-load saturation test and out-put test if necessary.
(2) Machine shall be operated of no load and rated speed , and then shaft voltage will be measured
with machine energized.
(3) Measurement points refer to next page.
(4) Measured by digital volt-meter. (Hi-impedance volt-meter)
(5) If it is more than AC 5 voltage, it has to be recorded frequency or wave form.

Cooling air Flow Measurem.ent

1. Objective
To check the cooling air flow is adequate to keep the generator
winding temperature rise under its upper limit.
2. Test procedure
(1) Generator is operated at rated speed.
(2) ft shall be measured by the air flow meter( anemometer or anemomaster).
3. Measuring procedure
(1). Measure the area where cooling air flow is measured.
(2). Measure the air flow in each area after air flow becomes stable.
(3). Calculate the cooling air flow using the formula below.

Temperature Rise Test of <3en. Operation

1. Objective
Measure the winding and bearing temperatures and conformances with design values.
2. Test procedure
(1 ). Make all settings and make final operational check of all Generator, Turbine and Ex.
systems to ensure proper control, indication, protection and annunciation.
(2).Keeping the generator at rated output, check that no abnormal temperature is observed
for Generator, turbine and others.
(3). Heat run test shall be also performed with rated power factor of Generator.

recording interval shall be 15 min. - 60 min.
