1. INTRODUCTION
A pump performance curve indicates the relationship between a pump's flow rate (in
gallons per minute, litres per minute, etc.) and the pressure or head it produces (in
pounds per square inch, metres, etc.). It is used to show how the pump would function
under various operating situations, such as changing flow rates and head pressures.
Besides, the pump performance curve typically consists of several lines, each
representing a different impeller diameter or speed. The curve shows how the pump's
efficiency, power consumption, and net positive suction head (NPSH) required vary
with flow rate.
2. OBJECTIVE
The objective of doing a pump performance curve practical is to identify a pump's real
performance and provide a graphical depiction of its performance under various
operating situations. Engineers and operators may use this information to better
understand the pump's properties and optimise its performance in a specific
application. Besides, another objective of this job sheet is to plot characteristic curve
of centrifugal pump and self-priming. Also, to describe graphically the relation between
flow rate and head for the actual pump.

3. PROCEDURE
3.1. Steps:
Data above shows result of flow rate and discharge pressure that recorded following
by opening valve 50,60,70,80,90 and 100.

DISCUSSION
Based on the graph, when the valve opening % is increased from 50 to 100, the flow
rate value increases but the discharge pressure value falls. This is because it obeys
the formula which is the flow rate increase meanwhile pressure decreased. Besides,
the formula that used for calculation is:
5. CONCLUSION
In a nutshell, the pump performance curve is a useful tool for engineers and
technicians when it comes to selecting, developing, and troubleshooting pumping
systems. They can establish the ideal operating settings of the pump and guarantee
that the system functions effectively and reliably by analysis the pump performance
curve. Furthermore, the pump performance curve may be used to assess the
performance of current pumps and detect any flaws that may necessitate maintenance
or replacement.
