What is Digital Marketing?
Digital marketing refers to any marketing strategy that uses an
electronic device that may or may not be connected to the internet.
Even radio ads and television commercials are digital marketing
strategies.Digital marketing is important when it comes to being
competitive and relevant within your industry.
Importance of Digital Marketing
• Digital marketing is on the rise – since 2015, marketing professionals report
spending steadily more of their budgets on digital marketing methods,
while at the same time, reducing spending on traditional marketing
outlets.
• This is because consumers are increasingly present on online channels,
giving businesses more opportunities to reach their ideal customers, all
day, every day.
• The world has 7.9billion people and 5.03 billion of those people use the
internet regularly
• This means that 63% of the world’s entire population can be reached online
via digital marketing
• Nearly 30 percent of consumers would rather interact with brands online,
via social channels, versus going to a store.

Glimpse of HUL Digital Marketing
• FMCG major Hindustan Unilever reported a 12.74% increase in net
profit to Rs 2601 crore for the quarter ended March 31, 2023,
compared to Rs 2307 crore in the same quarter of the previous year.
• The company’s advertising and promotion expenses grew marginally
1.16% to Rs 1311 crore for the quarter ended March 31, 2023 as
compared to Rs 1296 crore for the quarter ended March 31, 2022. For
the quarter ended December 31, 2022, ad spends of the company
stood at Rs 1209 crore.
• HUL's total income for the quarter was Rs 15, 375 crore against Rs
13,846 crore in the same quarter previous year.
