COMPARITIVE STUDY
The reason to choose this artwork by Endy Warhol
names the ‘skull’ is because the story behind
making this artwork is based on the situation the
artist was going through. Before making this
artwork Andy was shot and due to which his mental
health was affected a lot due to which he kept
thinking about death. As we all know Skull is a
proper way to symbolize death and due to which he
painted skull in many different manners. Mental
health is something which is very important for me
and after knowing the story behind this artwork and
how mental health of the artist is connected I chose
to do my comparitive study upon the same.
This is the ‘Sunflower’ by Van gogh
and the reason to choose this
specific artwork is due to its
sutleness and simplicity. He has
justed used 3 shades of yellow in this
artwork bt has made it look so
peaceful and at the same time so
pretty and eligant. It is not easy to
make an artwork look so preaceful,
elegant and simple at the same time
that too by only using 3 shades of
one color. Due to this creativity I
wanted to choose this artwork and

Brief about the artwork:

After he was shot and critically injured in 1968, Warhol became

even more obsessed with the theme of death than he had been
previously. The skull, a traditional symbol of mortality, is
repeated six times, with the impenetrable darkness of the
hollow eye sockets echoed in each image.
