Scene 1: Narrator......

Diversity coexists with the idea of dealing attitudes served by different people of different background. Now,
there lies, a great challenge hidden in table napkins- that is how to serve respect.

We try to maximize our sensitivity when eating at tables with them. We try our best to be knowledgeable about
their backgrounds to appropriate our attitudes towards them. That is, fostering respect and sense of
belongingness, because everyone belongs.

As future teachers, we should create spaces for diversity especially in our classrooms. Imagine yourself teaching at
some international school, maybe at Brent or ISM. Such schools cater a diverse student with different cultural
backgrounds. The challenge now is, "how do you cater and foster mutual respect among others?"

With this small act, we present you, that DIVERSITY is UNITY through HUMANITY!

Scene 2: Bullying

Jude(Englishera1): Why are they wearing something like that?

Lj(Englishera2): I dunno, maybe it's a trend or something?

Jude&Lj: Both Laugh....

Michaela(Tagalog): Ngayon lang ba sila nakakita ng nagsusuot ng ganyan?

Jennie(Ilokano): Madik man ammo ngay, baka kehdi pers tym dalang ah nga makakita ti kasta ta kasta unay lang
panangdillaw da.

Michaela: Naku sinabi mo pa.

Jennie: Baybay am ketdin baka ket sita ti sumaruno nga inda uyawen hahaha.

Jude: You two are saying something?

Lj: Common! Tell us what you guys talking about!

Jude: I swear I'm gonna rip off your cheap shirts if you guys not telling us!

Jennie: Nating, nating. We're very sorry about it.

Lj: Sorry not sorry but if you mess with us, you guys gonna suffer the rest of your lives!

Michaela: We're just having our own businesses.

Jude: And what's that business then? Is it safe or harmful?

Jennie: Mauyong samet dagituy handa makaw awat, ayna.

Michaela: Tsk sinabi mo pa(medyo tumawa)

Lj: What did you just say?

Jude: Hey bestie, leave them alone. Our teacher is already here.
Teacher: So good afternoon, everyone! How's your day? Before we formally start our discussion, may I introduce you
first your new classmate. He is from Cebu and He doesn't speak that much but he can understand you guys. He's just
shy hihi.

Mark Gil(Bisaya): Maayong hapon kaninyong tanan! Ako si Mark Gil Ramboanga ug gikan ko sa Cebu. Gipatambong
ko diri aron makakuha og mas maayong edukasyon ug makaila pud kaninyo tanan.

Jude: What did you just say? Can you translate it in english, we don't want to guess here what your talking about.

Teacher: Stop it Jude! Okay so Mark Gil tell us about yourself in a way that your classmates will understand you
better.

Mark Gil: Wala pa ko kaayo kahibaw og English pero apan susubok ko nga makahimo. Gusto ko lamang makig-uban
kaninyo ug makatuon og tarong. Salamat sa inyong pagtagad. I mmmean I just dddon't speak that much in English
but I'll try my best ma'am. Sorry po.

Teacher: It's okay. You may have your seat now. Okay class our topic for today is all about DIVERSITY. What's your
idea or guesses on what this word means?

(Nagitayag ni Jennie, Micha, ken Lj)

Teacher: Okay Lj.

Lj: Diversity, to me, encompasses the richness of differences among individuals, including but not limited to
differences in culture, ethnicity, language, religion, gender, sexual orientation, abilities, and perspectives.

Teacher: Very good, Lj! Okay can I have another one please. (Nagitayag man da Micha, Jennie tas ni Jude same with
Diana and Gabby) Why don't you give it a try Mark Gil?

Mark Gil: Uhm, ah, uhmm

Jude&Lj: Both laugh...

Jude: Omg, he cannot speak in english grrr.

Lj: Told yah! (Then nagkatawa da manen)

Teacher: Silence! It's okay Mark Gil, don't be nervous and give it a try.

Mark Gil: Dddiversity is all about inclusivity wwwhere you respect each other's differences and understand each
other's way of llliving. We're all came from different backgrounds but we are standing on the sssame ground
shouting the same thing and believe for wwwhat is right and that is to be RESPECTED and to BELONG in this
sssociety. We are recognizing a great 'one' for everything.

Teacher: Wow, very good Mark Gil! You're absolutely right. Give him a 10 clap.

(Pabulong nga dwa dalang ti agsarsaritan)

Jude:Tsk He doesn't need to be that way. He is nothing to us.

Lj: You're right, he will have his time of suffering. Trust me!

(Next scene)

Michaela: Wow Mark Gil, ang galing galing mo kaninang sumagot.

Jennie: Supay kasla napractice mon iti ingles nga pagsasao, amazing na amazing ka!

Mark Gil: Hahaha, gamay na butang eh.

Jennie: Nya hanmi mawatan angkol hahaha

Michaela: Magtagalog ka nalang haha no problem to us if mamali mali ka, no one's perfect noh hahaha.

Jennie: Truening

Mark Gil: Okay, salamat sa inyong dalawa.

Michaela: Alam mo naman palang magtagalog grrrr.

Mark Gil: Sakto lang hehe. Bakit parang antahimik naman nong dalawang yun? (Sabay turo sa dalawang muslim)

Jennie: Ah handa kayat ti makilangen langen ta managbabain da. Sikami gamin ni Micha ket napuskol rupa na
hehehehe

Michaela: Wag ka ngang epal jan Jen. Alam mo kasi kawawa yang dalawang yan dahil yung classmates nating mga
Englishera eh binubully sila.

Mark Gil: Kawawa naman ay.

Jennie: Nakunamon. Sunga nu sikami kenni Micha ti garawen da talaga met nga makaraman da iti danog ti ususto
nga ilokano hahaha.

Michaela: Shhhh baka marinig ka nila.

Jennie: Uray pay handak met maawatan hahaha.

Mark Gil: Kanina ka pa salita ng salita pero hindi ko naiintindihan hehehe.

Jennie: Ay sorry hanmo met gamin ibaga este hindi mo naman agad sinabi grrr.

Mark Gil: Pasensya na.

Jennie: No, it's okay. Walang anuman my dear. Gusto mo itranslate ko?

Mark Gil: Wag na, okay nayun.

Jennie: Ocakes!

Narrator: A tension seems building up amongst them. Oh no! Where would inclusivity finds its place now??

Jude: It's super duper hot in here yet you're wearing something like that? Are you guys crazy or what?

Lj: Yeah, pull it off bestie. They have something inside them i guess.

(Guyguyuden ni Jude jay hijab da nga dwa ta kayat na uksuten)

Diana(Muslim1): No, please stop. It's part of our tradition to wear this so please don't pull it off.

Jude: I don't care, it's just that it's not giving you know.
Gab(Muslim2): Please stop doing this. We're not giving you harm or something.

Lj: It's irritating to see so pull it off damn you!

(Habang guyguyuden da immay da Jennie ken Micha ken MG)

Jennie: Hey hey hey, Stap dat! Stap dat!

Michaela: You two are monsters. Leave the two alone now!

Jude: Ow. The basic bitches are here bestie.

Lj: They are saving the day i guess

Jude&Lj: Both laugh....

Mark Gil: Stoppp it right there! You ttttwo ddddon't have the pepepermission to do that tototo them!

Jude: Atutututu. Please have the decency to speak clear so that we could understand what you are saying.

Lj: Yeah you're like an internet connection, you're laggy!

(Both laugh)

Michaela: Stop it you two. You're making a big deal out of it but why don't you guys see yourselves on the mirror to
reflect clearly what you guys doing. You guys supposed to be in school to learn not to bully others!

Jennie: That's right!

Diana&Gab: Go back to where you belong!

(Nagwalk out gijay duwa)

Narrator: Marami sa atin ang mababa pa rin ang kamalayang pangkultura at panglingwistika. Ilan sa atin ay may
mataas na pagtingin sa sariling kultura at wika na nagdudulot sa pagmamaliit at ginagawang katatawanan ang
ibang kultura at wika. Datapwat, sa pag-aaral ng ibang kutura at wika ng iba ay nakakatulong sa pag-unawa natin
kung bakit isinasagawa ang mga bagay bagay, kagaya ng pagsuot ng hijab o ang pagsasalita ng wikang Visaya.

Scene 3: Make Friends!

Diana&Gab: Shukran!

Jennie: Nya kadi dayta manen?

Michaela: Hahaha Jen nagtethank you lang sila. Ikaw talaga absent ka kasi nung nagseminar kami sa mga iba't ibang
lenggwahe.

Jennie: Ah kasjay met gayam. No it's okay, it's our responsibility to help aders hehehe.

Diana: Thank you again for saving us. We wouldn't like to live a life in that toxicity.

Gab: We are here to just learn and make friends, not to be bullied by them.
Mark Gil: It's okay now, yyyou guys have the cccomfort to be with us. Wwwe have lots of topics to be shared with.

Diana: That's nice to hear.

Gab: I feel so happy and comfortable now.

(Both are having their good time)

Narrator: After an arduous semester, these students deserve a break! However, the leaves aren't the only ones
changing this vacation. Our two English speaking students seems to have.... a change of ways. We could only hope
it's a change of heart!

Jude: Lj, I do have a lot of things to do. How about you?

Lj: Jude, I think we should end the bullying huhu. In the past months, I saw and learned different cultural
backgrounds. My mom took me to cebu and I do realize that their language are different from us. It's just that the
two of us are making it funny but in fact it is their way of showcasing themselves.

Jude: Yeah you're right, My dad told me to be respectful. I dunno why he is making me that way but it feel so good to
care for other people now. I think we should end the stereotypes, bullying, and toxicity to our classmates.

Lj: That's right, dear! We are one section so we are family;>

Narrator: Words seem immaterial not until they are put into action. Atonement is what they plan to do. Now, let's
see how they would contribute to fostering inclusivity towards their classmates!

Jennie: Long time no see gagayem! Bwahahaha

Michaela: Tsk ikaw na naman jennie kim haha

Jennie: Nya aya ngay micha babaam kadin keh dandani tayun aggredwar barbareng met nagbalbaliw ngatan dagijay
nga dwa.

Diana: Hey guys, nice to see you all again hihi.

Gab: How's the vacation?

Jennie: It's good, it's good hehe. Micha ibagam man kasatnu met kanyada hehe. Jakamo english na eh.

Michaela: Tsk, How about you guys? Is it fun?

Diana: Yeah! It is. We performed ramadan and we practiced fasting.

Gab: Yeah, how about you mark gil?

Mark Gil: Oh, I think I enjoyed it that much hehehe. I learned a bit of an english, I hiked, I traveled, and my family
tripped to Laguna. It is fun and memorable hihi.

Jennie: Wow, your english now is great!

Mark Gil: Thanks, jen! (Nag-apir da)

Michaela: That's good to hear, dear. Oh the two bullies are here hayst.

Jude: Hi guys! How's vacay?

Lj: Yaz, did you enjoy or something?

Jennie: Hehehe enjoyable, chewable, and marble. Hmp tabbel hahaha apay nga bigla da nga simingpet?

Mark Gil: Hayaan ninyo sila, baka nakahibaw na sila og nakabalik na sa ilang mga buhat este hayaan nyo na baka
nakikipagfriends na sila.

Jennie: I don't tenk so!

Michaela: Jen, it's okay just let them realize their actions and make sure they don't repeat it again. (Kinita na isuda
with kasla pagbabanta haha)

Jude: Huhu we're sorry about the bully thing. We are very sorry for all the pain that we've caused you guys. I know
this is nothing much to all of you but I sincerely apologizing about all the bad manners we did.

Lj: And we saw it as a lesson to our everyday lives because we tend to saw and learned the importance of differences
in one's life. May it be in culture, their backgrounds, and their races. I know we are very rude on the past but trust us
we are sincere enough to make friends to all of you.

Mark Gil: Well in that case I think we should end the hatred and promote inclusivity and peace instead? We are at
the last grade so we should end the school year memorable and happy!

Michaela: That's right!

Diana: Indeed! You guys did a worst but yeah what matters the most is that at the end of the day, we are all in the
same section and we should love each other like a family.

Gab: A big big hug to everyone yohoooo!

Jennie: Ayts aguray kay man pay ta agbangbanglo nak baka kehdi nabangsitak ket nakababain dagituy

Narrator: Bring down your pride, admit your mistakes, and start over again! Our students are now finally building
connections towards others. Respecting each other’s differences is indeed a form of inclusivity.

Scene 4: The end

Teacher: Good day class! Our last activity for today is all about knowing each other's culture. I know this could be
interesting to all of you since you guys are doing well with each other. Form a circle and discuss each other's
different cultural backgrounds. You can work with that in 5 mins.

Jennie: Ay yayay! Jude ken Lj? What culture do you have in your country? Gimays haha

Lj: We both lived in America and we always see americans with the cultures of consumerism, innovation and
entrepreneurship.
Jude: Yeah, we do believe that americans are wealthy in terms of technology and supplies. We tend to be a business-
minded people haha.

Jennie: Oh wow

Jude: How about you?

Jennie: (Nagsmile ka kanyada) An ilokano is hospitable, generous, and kind. Also we are strong in all ways. We have
also this tradition called 'pinnadigo' which foods or drinks are meant to be shared. That's how I'm gonna discuss
what ilokano is. Street english yay! Hahaha

Jude: Wow, that's very nice.

Lj: I want to know more about ilokanos hihi.

Jennie: Sure, I will show you how beautiful our culture is.

Lj: Thanks for sharing!

Mark Gil: Maayo man na madungog.

Michaela: How about you, mark gil? What is the culture of the Cebuano or generally the bisayanos?

Mark Gil: Oh. In our culture we have the tradition called bayanihan where we value social connections. We are also
resilient and spiritual being because we tend to overcome challenges and adversities. That's how I'm gonna illustrate
what bisayanon is.

Jennie: Nice yan ah, hanka talaga aglalagen nu agenglish kan hahahaha

Mark Gil: Ah hehehe

Diana: That's nice. I am delighted with what you guys have shared.

Gab: It is really heartwarming.

Michaela: How about you guys?

Diana: Oh, we have many traditions and beliefs. We are tawhid or Islamic monotheism because we believe only in
one God. We also have the respect for family and community because we are unifying together with celebration,
prayers, and support. We also have our dress codes where women tend to wear hijabs and for men is a loose robe
covering their neck all the way to their ankles. We also have ramadan where salah(prayer) and sawm(fasting) is
presented to all of you.

Gab: That's right! And we have also the halal or the dietary laws and haram or avoiding prohibited foods. Halal also
extends to other aspects such as in business, finance, and behavior.

Lj: Wow! That's so interesting to hear.

Diana&Gab: (Both smile)

Jennie: Hehehehe

Mark Gil: Unsa sa imo? Este how about you micha?

Michaela: Oh yeah, in tagalog we have these kinds of values where pakikisama or harmonious relationship, hiya or
sense of shame or propriety, and utang na loob or debt of gratitude. Those values are practiced up to this day and
I'm proud to be a Tagalog. Also, we have this concept of kapalaran or destiny where one's life path is predetermined
or influenced by supernatural forces. It's kinda weird but yeah it is our beliefs. I think i could share a lot if we have
enough time but for now we have to make it short.

Jude: Oh yeah, it's almost time grrrr. It's fun to hear different cultures, different beliefs, and different backgrounds.

Lj: Yazzz, I'm in a culture shock right now haha. But if 'kaparalan' takes us to what we are dreaming to be. I hope we
could know more about our histories, and so on. I love you guys and thank you for that!
