Date: March 19, 2024

Submission: March 25, 2024

Show your complete solution including the energy and mass balance. Plot each item on the
psychrometric chart showing the Sensible Heat factor (SHF) Line and all the psychrometric data needed
for your computations.

1. Sensible Heating

Estimate the heat transfer rate of heating of 1.2 m^3/s at 15C and 90% RH to 50C without the addition
of moisture.

2. Sensible Cooling

Estimate the heat transfer rate of cooling of 26.8 ft^3/s at 113F to 30C and 70% RH without addition of
moisture.

3. Cooling and dehumidifying

Estimate the cooling load and moisture removed from 1.5 m^3/s of moist air at 30C and 60% RH cooled
to 15C and 80% RH.

Estimate the cooling load, moisture removed, ADPT, CF, and CCE if the exit air is 15C and 95% RH.

4. Heating and Humidifying

Estimate the heating load and moisture added to 1.5m^3/s of moist air at 20Cdb and 18Cwb and heated
to 30C and 60% RH.

5. Adiabatic Saturation/ Cooling and Humidifying

Air at 33Cdb and 19 Cwb is cooled and humidified by passing through an air washer in which water
continuously circulated the air leaves the air washer at 23 Cdb. Determine the moisture added,
theoretical saturation temperature and AWE

6. Air mixing

A stream of outdoor air at 35Cdb and 25Cwb is mixed with a stream of return air at 24C and 50% RH in
an air conditioning system that operated at standard barometric reading. The flow rate is 4kg/s and
5kg/s respectively. Estimate the humidity ratio of the mixture and dry bulb temperature of the mixture.

*Note: Load in KW and moisture in kgv/kga. Four decimal places
