I. OBJECTIVES
A. Content Standards The learner demonstrates understanding of key concepts of probability.
B. Performance Standards The learner is able to formulate and solve practical problems involving probability of simple
events.
C. Learning Competencies At the end of the lesson, each learner should be able to:
1) Differentiate theoretical and experimental probability.
2) Solve for the theoretical and experimental probability of an event.

The teacher will call each names for the attendance. “Present.”

“What did we discuss last meeting?” “We have discussed about theoretical
probability wherein it is the
mathematical probability that we get
from solving.”
“It is the ideal probability, the
probability that should happen.”
“Excellent.”

B. Establishing a purpose “For this lesson, our objectives will be the following. A student will read the objectives

and practicing new skills #1 experimental probability?” “Experimental probability is the

probability of an event when an actual
experiment is done.”
“That’s right. So, how will you differentiate
experimental probability from theoretical
probability by giving an example?”
“For example in rolling a die, the
theoretical probability of getting 5 is 1/6
while the experimental probability
depends upon the result when I roll the
die once. If I roll a number that is not a
5, then the probability will be 0. But if I
roll a number 5, then the probability is
1.”
“Very well said.”
