Sanaria Maneba analyzed about reading motivation in students for English text. This
study at SMP Negeri 4 Baubau explored grade VIII students' English reading
motivation using a descriptive qualitative approach. The sample included 25 students
from class VIII.1, revealing that 5 students had high motivation, 13 had average
motivation, and 7 had low motivation, leading to an overall conclusion of an average
motivation level among the students.

This article offers insightful analysis of students' interest in reading English texts,
contributing to educational discourse. However, it lacks an exploration of potential
causes or remedies for variations in students' reading interest. Nevertheless, the
research provides valuable insights into the proficiency level of grade VIII students at
SMP Negeri 4 Baubau when engaging with English texts.
