II. RATIONALE:

Teaching in the 21st century gives teachers a platform to

underscore the importance of providing equal opportunities to diverse
learners. It is stated in differentiated learning that “values should not be
tolerated rather they should be valued.” Subsequently, teaching and
learning should bring out the best among learners as they apply the
skills and knowledge gained through varied and meaningful learning
experiences.

MAPEH (Music, Art, Physical Education, and Health) focuses on

the acquisition of skills and literacies which will require learners to
understand musical concept, draw and create artworks that show their
artistic expression, apply physical education concepts through games
and dances, and gain concepts and ideas relevant to one’s health and
that of the community where they belong. Moreover, this subject under
the K to 12 Basic Education Program also values synergy and dynamism
as learners engage in group activities as well as upholds creativity and
innovation, critical thinking, and communication.

Indeed, conducting this classroom-based MAPEH Day is a

manifestation that learning per se is not only acquiring knowledge on
different theories but more on applying the knowledge and skills in
meaningful and worthwhile activities to help each child attain holistic
development in consonance to the goals of the Department of Education –
artistic expression and cultural literacy for Music and Art, active life for
fitness and lifelong health for PE, and lifelong wellness for Health.
