Ask pupils to explain how they will go about planning a piece of writing.

Allow pupils to discuss their ideas with their talk partner(s) before collecting ideas as a class.

Ask pupils to read the Exam Close-up box and check that they understand what they have to do. Remind them that this
email is to a friend and so it should be informal and they can use abbreviations in it.
