EXAM GUIDELINES

How do I attempt the Exam?

The meeting regarding how to attempt the exams have been posted on the Moodle
Website announcement. Make sure you see the recording to have a smooth examination
process insha Allah.

Details about the Exam Room

Note:- The first exam will be on the 13th of December 2021 6am EST.
This will be 13th of December 2021 4pm PK time.

ONLY the Alimah Programs will be proctored.

Students are expected to appear in one of the time slots given above in order to attempt
their exams. Please ensure:

1. The device that the student is using has a functioning camera and
microphone. Both you and your workspace need to be visible during the
exam, students may need two devices to achieve this.
2. Please be on time. Students will not be allowed in the exam room 10 minutes
after the exam session has started.
3. The proctor will give the password for the exam exactly after 10 mins and the
room will be locked after that time. Students who are late will have to catch the
second Slot or if this was the final slot then they will miss that exam unfortunately.

 4. Students are not allowed to leave for snack breaks etc. Please keep some water
and a snack with you in case you really need it. Students must take permission
from the proctor before they leave their seat.
5. Leaving for emergencies, health issues etc is allowed.
6. Salah breaks are allowed as well if there is a fear of qadha. Informing the proctor
is mandatory by using the chat box.
7. Emailed or whatsApp exam attachments will not be accepted. Please make sure
you know how to convert a file in to PDF & upload it.
8. Links and reminders will not be sent each day. It is up to each student to
remember to login for their exams; as a courtesy, whatsapp reminders will be
sent prior to the start of each exam slot.
9. Students must maintain the required adab and decorum of an exam room. We
are there to give our exam and leave. No irrelevant discussion will be entertained
and the proctor can completely ignore all such questions. Everything regarding
the exams have been explained. Please listen to the recording over and over to
understand the process completely

Quran & Fundamental’s program

The exam will be available on your moodle course resource i.e Fundamentals Program
Student Resources for the fundamentals program and Quran program student resources
for the Quran program. Attempt the exam under the tab of your current year. The exam
will be made available at 6am EST and will be due within 24hours. Watch the recording of
the meeting to see how to submit the exam. Emailed exams will not be accepted.

Mode of exams:

The exam must be attempted in one-go, i.e. you cannot take half the exam in one slot and
the other half in the other slot. Moodle automatically notes the time the exam was
accessed.

All exams are closed book, closed notes, closed websites, and closed everything. You are
only allowed to have your exam document open if you are typing your answers, or a paper
and pen if you are handwriting.

What if I'm not attempting exams right now because I have an extension or an
emergency?
Extensions are not allowed this time around due to many reasons. However, if you were
granted an extension due to extenuating circumstances do not open the exam until you
are ready to attempt it. Or if you have taken the exams earlier than the schedule or at an
early slot, then do not discuss the exams with other students. Do not use them as a study
aid. Doing any of the aforementioned is equivalent to cheating. Cheating is not tolerated
at Maryam Institute and, as such, any student caught cheating will be expelled from the
institute.

Please note the following:

Email submissions of exams from students will NOT be
accepted. You must submit your exam in the way outlined in the meeting.

Who will be watching over me? What if I take over time or cheat?
There will be proctor/s to monitor the exam session –however, the fear should not be
insaan rather, Allah subhanahu wa Ta’aala, the Al-Aleem, the Al-Khabeer will be watching
over us as you. If you cheat, you will not be cheating on us- you will be cheating on Allah
swt. This is how Ilm of Deen is different from Ilm of Dunya.

No one is forcing you to be here – you are here of your own accord, because you wish to
become pleasing to Allah swt. Needless to say, it is better if you fail
the exam than you cheat.
