Content Standards: The learner demonstrates understanding of lifestyle and


weight management to promote societal fitness
Performance Standards: The learner maintains an active lifestyle to influence the
physical activity participation of the community and society
Learning Competency: The learner engages in moderate to vigorous physical
activities for at least 60 minutes a day in and out of school

I. Subject Matter: Recreational Activity

II. Objectives:
At the end of the lesson, the students should be able to;
 classify different kinds of recreational activities
 describe the difference between active and passive recreation
 integrate the benefits of active recreation in the promotion of
societal fitness

Directions: Group the different recreational activities based on their
characteristics.

 Analysis

The teacher will ask follow-up questions to the students on how they
have come up with their answers.
1. What are the factors have you considered in classifying the
different activities?
2. What do you prefer, active or passive recreation? Why?
3. How do these activities improve your health? Explain your
answer.

 Abstraction
Recreational Activity
Recreation has been simply defined as a socially desirable activity carried
on voluntary free time for purposes of fun and pleasure or those activities
done during one’s leisure time. These activities that people choose to do
to refresh their bodies and minds and make their leisure time more
interesting and enjoyable.
Passive Recreation - Refers to recreational activities that do not require
prepared facilities like sports fields or pavilions. Activities undertaken by
any person for enjoyment in their own free time, and which are not based

on formal competition or organised administration. Traditionally these


activities have centered on such activities as informal play.
Active Recreation – Refers to a structured individual or team activity that
requires the use of special facilities, courses, fields or equipment. leisure
time activities of a more structured nature often requiring equipment and
taking place at prescribed places, sites or fields. These are activities
that refresh or restore one’s strength.
Benefits of Recreation

The teacher will discuss the benefits of being engaged in recreation


such as health, physical, mental and social benefits.

 Application

“LET’S PLAY!” – Based from the discussion, the teacher will instruct
the students to create their own active recreational activity.

Directions: Group yourselves into five (5). Create a recreational


activity that you can do with your group. Make it as original and
creative as possible.

Criteria for Grading:


 Originality – 30%
 Creativity – 25%
 Mechanics – 25%
 Participant’s Engagement – 20%
Total -100%
V. Evaluation
Suppose you are living in a depressed community where kids and adults
alike are very stagnant in their lifestyle. In school, you are the president of
the Physical Education Club and displays a strong advocacy in societal
fitness.
Questions:
1. As an advocate, how will you encourage your community to engage in
active recreational activities especially in this time of pandemic?
2. What are the possible benefits that the community may acquire if they
involve themselves in such activities?
VI. Assignment

What: Go into your community and document the recreational activities that you
have observed. Prepare to share your observations in class.
