PILE

1.PRECAST REINFORCED CONCRETE PILES SHALL BE DESIGNED AND


MANUFACTURED ACCORDING TO B.S. 8004:1986 [FOUNDATION] , B.S.
8110 [ STRUCTURE USE OF CONCRETE] AND C.P. 116.
2.MATERIALS USED SHALL CONFIRMED TO :-
(i) CEMENT -- MS 522 ORDINARY PORTLAND CEMEN
(ii) AGGREATES -- BS 822 WASHED MINING SAND / 3/4"
GRANITE
(iii) HIGH TENSILE STEEL -- MS 146 LONGITUDINAL REINFORCEMENT
BAR
(iv) COLD DRAWN WIRE -- BS 4461 LATERAL REINFORCEMENT
STIRRUP
(V) MILD STEEL PLATE -- BS 4360 END PLATE [ GRADE 43A ]
(Vi) ADMIXTURE -- BS 5075 SUPER- PLASTICISER
3.CONCRETE USED FOR R.C. PILES SHALL BE GRADE 40 AND ABOVE ;
WITH MINIMUM CHARACTERISTIC CUBE STRENGTH OF MINIMUM 40
N/MM^2 AT 28 DAYS.
4.THE DETAIL DESIGN AND MANUFACTURER OF THE 8" X 8" [200 MM X 200
MM] R.C. PILE SHALL BE SUBMITTED TO ENGINEER FOR APPROVAL
PRIOR TO COMMENCEMENT. PILES SHALL HAVE MINIMUM SAFE
WORKING LOAD OF 30 TONS.
5.PILES JOINTS SHALL BE MADE BY WELDING THE END PLATES
TOGETHER WITH 13 MM THICK OF FILLET WELD IN TWO ROUNDS.
6.STARTER PILES SHALL HAVE A CAST IRON PILE SHOE WELDED TO
MILD STEEL STRAPS AND CAST WITH CONCRETE.
7. DROP HAMMER, HYDRAULIC HAMMER OR JACKED-IN SHALL BE USED
FOR DRIVING OF PILES. PILES DRIVING SHALL BE CARRIED OUT WITH
MINIMUM NOISE AND AIR POLLUTION AND SHALL BE WITHIN THE
RULES AND REGULATIONS ENFORCED BY LOCAL AUTHORITIES.
8.MINIMUM 100 MM THICK SUITABLE PACKING SHALL BE PROVIDED AT
THE PILE HEAD AS CUSHION LAYER.
9. ALL DRIVING OF PILES & SET ACHIEVED SHALL BE RECORDED &
REPORTED TO THE ENGINEER.
10.THE MAXIMUM ALLOWABLE ECCENTRICITY OF EACH PILE POINT
SHALL NOT BE MORE THAN 75 MM. ANY DISPLACED MORE THAN 75
MM SHALL BE COMPENSATED WITH NEW PILES AT LOCATION DECIDED
BY ENGINEER.
11.MAINTAIN LOAD TEST ON SELECTED PILE TWICE THE DESIGN LOAD OF
THE PILE SHALL BE CARRIED OUT ACCORDING THE PROCEDURES
AS RECOMMENDED BY BS8004
12.ALL PILES DELIVER ON SITE TO BE SIRIM APPROVED TYPE.
13. UPON COMPLETION OF PILING WORK, 3 SETS OF AS BUILT DRAWING
SHOWING THE ACTUAL POSITION OF EACH ANY EVERY PILE SHALL BE
PREPARE BY LICENCED SURVERYOR.
14. FOR THE PURPOSE OF TENDERING, THE ESTIMATED PENETRATION
LENGTH SHALL BE 30M BUT THE ACTUAL PENETRATION LENGTH SHALL
BE DETERMINED USING PDA TESTS ON REPRESENTATIVE PILES
15. EXTREME CARE HAS TO BE EXERCISED WHEN INSTALLING THE PILES
ESPECIALLY IN CONTROLLING THE DROP HEIGHT SO THAT NO
EXCESSIVE VIBRATION IS INDUCED BY THE PILING OPERATION
16. ALL SETTING OUT OF PILING POSITIONS SHALL BE MEASURED FROM
CENTRE LINE OF COLUMN i.e. CENTROID OF PILECAP SHALL BE AT
CENTROID OF COLUMN.
17. ALL DIMENSIONS & GRID LINES SHALL BE CHECKED AND VERIFIED BY
QUALIFIED SURVERYOR BEFORE PILING COMMENCED.ANY
DESDREPENCIES MUST BE REFERED TO THE ARCHITECT OR ENGINEER
18. PILE HEADS SHALL BE ADEQUATELY PROTECTED FROM DISTORTION &
DAMAGE
19. ALL PILES ARE SUBJECTED TO PILE INTEGRITY TESTS BEFORE
CONCRETE CASTING IS ALLOWED
