C. Presentation In relation with the story, our topic for

today is all about LITERARY
CONFLICT.

What is a Literary Conflict?

“In literature, a conflict is a literary

device characterized by a struggle
between two opposing forces. Conflict
provides crucial tension in any story and
is used to reveal a deeper meaning in a
narrative while highlighting characters’
motivation, values, and weaknesses.”

Conflict is an important element in the

study of stories, novels, plays, movies,
and etc.
Ma’am, it is the Internal and
External Conflict.

Do you know what are the 2

Categories of Conflict?

Excellent! You got the right answer. It is

the external and internal conflict.

D. Discussion Are you still with me, Class?

Now, let’s move on to the Categories of

Conflict.

Based on the picture, what do you think Ma’am, may I?

the picture tells or depict?
Ma’am internal conflict
Yes, Mark, do you have an idea? happen within themselves like
their wants and desires, while
external conflict happens
around them, like with other
people or other aspects.
Excellent, the picture depicts that (the
teacher explains)

Internal Conflict
- Is when a character struggles
with their own opposing desires
or beliefs.
- It happens within them, and it
drives their development as a
character.

External Conflict
- Sets a character against
something or someone beyond
their control. External forces
stand in the way of a character’s
motivations and create a tension
as the character tries to reach
their goals.

The Internal conflict has only one type,

that is the CHARACTER vs. SELF
while the External conflict has 5 types
which are: CHARACTER vs.
CHARACTER, CHARACTER vs.
NATURE, CHARACTER vs.
SUPERNATURAL,
CHARACTER vs. TECHNOLOGY, and
CHARACTER vs. SOCIETY

For today, we will only tackle about

Character vs. Self and Character vs.
Character

conflict?

(The students write down their

Internal conflict can cause a

great deal of stress as the

Many times, being able to talk
