MOTIVATION
Group Activity
The class will be grouped into four and a task will
be given. Each group will be given a manila paper
and a marker. Do this task in ten minutes.
As an adolescent, you experience numerous health

issues that pertain to your well-being. Identify
specific examples of these concerns: physical
activity, nutrition, injury and wellness, heart
disease, food safety, obesity, climate change and
substance abuse through a graphic organizer.

Existing National Law Related to
Health Trends, Issues and Concerns
1. Republic Act 10354 (Responsible

Parenthood and Reproductive Health
Act of 2012)
-A law which guarantees universal access to
methods on contraception, fertility control,
sexual education and maternal care.
Four Pillars of Responsible
Parenthood and Reproductive Health
Act
a. Informed Choice
– covers the provision for the integration of

reproductive health and sexuality education
in schools, and other educational settings.
b. Respect for Life
– the Act recognizes that abortion is illegal and

punishable by law. However, mothers will be
identified to have aborted an unborn child will
be served with post-abortive treatment and
counseling in a humane, non-judgmental and
compassionate manner.
c. Birth Control
– Reproductive healthcare information and

supplies shall be made available most
especially to poor beneficiaries. However,
the Act provisions also that the government
must respect the citizen’s individual
preferences and choices of family planning
method.
d. Responsible Parenthood
– Couples identify their ideal family size. In

addition, the government shall equip each
parent with needed information in all aspects
of family life, reproductive health and this
pillar.
2. Republic Act 8504 (Philippine AIDS
Prevention and Control Act of 1998)
-policies and prescribing measures for the

prevention and control of HIV/AIDS in the
Philippines.
HIV and AIDS Prevention and Control Act of
2017 – every person in the care and custody of
the state shall have the right to HIV and AIDS
prevention, testing, treatment and counseling
services.
3. Republic Act 7394 (Consumer Act of the
Philippines)
-protects the interests of the consumer, promote
his/her general welfare and establish the
standards of conduct for business and industry.
4. Republic Act 10175 (Cybercrime

Prevention Act of 2012)
-The Law mandates the prohibition of cybersex,
child pornography, unsolicited commercial
communications and computer-related identity
theft.
5. Republic Act 9755 (Anti-Child
Pornography Act of 2009)
-The Act protects every child from all

forms of exploitation and abuse including
but not limited to: the use of a child in
pornographic performances and materials;
and the inducement or coercion of a child
to engage or be involved in pornography
through whatever means.
6. Republic Act 9512 (National
Environment Awareness and
Education Act of 2008)
- This Act promotes environmental

awareness through environment education.
7. Republic Act 10586 (Anti-Drunk
and Drugged Driving Law)
-It penalizes those who will be caught

driving under the influence of alcohol,
drugs and other similar substances.
-penalties range from a minimum of 3

months to a maximum of 20 years
imprisonment. The fine ranges from
P20,000 to P500,000.
8. Republic Act 9211 (Tobacco Regulation Act

-promote a healthful environment, inform the
public of the health risk, subsequently limit all
tobacco advertisement and sponsorship, protect
the youth from being initiated to cigarette
smoking
9. Republic Act 9165 (Dangerous Drug Act of

2002)
-A policy imposed by the government to deal
with the state’s problem with illegal drugs,
particularly how it affects the youth.
This lesson can be integrated in other

subjects like Araling Panlipunan, Science
and Edukasyon sa Pagpapakatao.
