INTRODUCTION:

The webinar Research in Practice: Bridging the Gap Between Theory and
Application was a comprehensive discussion about qualitative research,
quantitative research as well as research ethics which are crucial topics for us
novice researchers who are aiming to conduct research in the future. It was
clearly differentiated quantitative versus qualitative research in terms of data
gathering, sampling review, analyzing data and the methodology of the research.
Lastly it was emphasized the importance of research ethics by preserving the
dignity and rights of the human subjects by obtaining consent and maintaining
respect throughout the span of data gathering.

DESCRIPTION OF THE EXPERIENCE:

During the webinar it was elaborated by the resource speakers how to conduct
qualitative and quantitative research and how to apply ethics in research which
gave me a clear picture between the difference of the two types of research, in
addition I realized that ethics in research are important specially when dealing
with human subjects.
FEELINGS AND THOUGHT ABOUT THE EXPERIENCE:

I was overwhelmed at first due to vague topic about research however at the
middle of the webinar I felt happy and motivated because I was able to
understand the concept aimed to picture out by the resource speakers in the
webinar. Moreover, I was enlightened how research ethics is paramount when
human subjects are involved.

EVALUATION OF THE EXPERIENCE:

It was a good experience indeed for the reason that I learned a lot of necessary
things on how to come up an excellent research studies with a good quality
output. The speakers of the webinar were efficient and effective educators with
expertise in the field of research as a result I had a clear understanding on how
research bridge the gap between theory and application.

ANALYSIS TO MAKE SENSE OF THE SITUATION:

Proper selection of the type of research is important to come up a better

explanation an unknown phenomenon by considering the data collection
methods, analyzing qualitative and quantitative data, using suitable statistics,
effective methodology, and by considering research bias. Lastly doing no harm
to human subjects must be considered throughout the duration of the research.
CONCLUSION ABOUT WHAT YOU LEARNED:

Indeed, better understanding of the research topics are very helpful for me as
student enrolled in master’s degree so that I can applied it during my
dissertation in order for me to have a best quality research output that will
contribute to the additional facts in the society. In addition, applying research
ethics namely: beneficence, non-maleficence, respect and autonomy is the most
important aspect need to consider by research specially when dealing with
human subjects.

ACTION PLAN:

In the future I will apply all this useful knowledge that I have learned in the
webinar by utilizing the best type of research, effective data collection methods,
analyzing data, applying statistics, and research ethics. Because I cannot deny
the fact that one of the requirements to finish my master’s degree is to conduct
research with a good quality output.
